On Tues 19 May 26 our Health and Social Care students took part in a hands on skills activity where they were actively involved in CPR, Communication, Vital Signs, Vitals with Arnold and Loss and Grief sessions - the stations were facilitated by our HNC Healthcare Practice students who were able to demonstrate what they had learnt on their course and their practical placement activity. The event culminated in all levels working together in a care planning task.
This end of year cascading learning and sharing best practice between all our students (Level 7 HNC to our Level 6 Further Education) showcased the study paths and opportunities available within Health and Social Care at UHI Moray

Our students massively enjoyed the session and provided the following feedback:
+ Liked hands on experience
+ I was able to remind myself of the key info which was beneficial
+ Great incite to future skill sets needed and expectations
+ Facilitators were excellent!!
+ A variety of different skills
+ Enjoyed manual blood pressure trying it out for real
+ Confirmed knowledge on what learnt before going on placement
+ Found death practices interesting
+ Practical was amazing
+ Going back over CPR and when to do CPR was really interesting

Moray SWAP has a new course starting Monday 2 March 2026 - giving you an insight into a career in care

Step into Care is a short, introductory course designed to build your skills, knowledge, and confidence to help you begin a career in the care sector. Whether you’re looking to move into employment, progress into education, or simply gain insight and experience, this course provides a valuable introduction to working in care settings.

Topics covered include:
• Moving and Handling
• Standard Infection Control
• Dementia Awareness
• Mental Health Toolbox
• Activities in Care Settings
• Professionalism and Expectations in Practice

You will also complete an accredited Emergency First Aid qualification.

Course details:
• Duration: 4 days (Monday-Thursday)
• Start date: Monday 2 March 2026
• Time: 9.30am-4.00pm
