A ridiculously early start for me was made totally worth it when Charlie passed her driving test, on her first attempt, with only 1 driver fault... and the examiner said he'd had so much fun on the test with her.

Charlie did a lot of private practice and really wanted to do the test in her own car but it had an intermittent fault with the clutch which we didn't want to risk happening on test, so to come back with only one driver fault in a car that you're less confidant in speaks volumes!!

Well done Charlie! Good luck with your final year of A levels and good luck getting a job soon so that you can actually afford to insure your car.

Congratulations to Katie who passed her driving test today at Newton Abbot test centre with just a handful of driver faults!

Katie started learning with me a few years ago and took a test in Exeter when she was very heavily pregnant. Sadly the test did not go her way.

She prioritised the new baby and life in general and a few years later, once ready to try again we went out, armed with the test sheet from before and worked on the faults.

Katie was determined to get it right this time, and she absolutely did.

Well done Katie, you deserved some good karma for all the good deeds you have done for my family (you know what they are). I hope this is not goodbye and that you'll be in our greater family for years to come!

Humongous Friday yays go to Amelia who passed, first time, in Exeter, with only 3 driver faults, thankfully before the holiday traffic kicked in. I think I'll always remember the sound of your examiner's voice when he realised how much he was going to have to squeeze in, in order to fit into your car! Amelia has gone out in her own car a lot more than in mine, and was much more confident, so it really was a no brainer as to which car should be used for test.

It has been such a pleasure teaching you. You've approached it as something fun but with exactly the right amount of seriousness in there too. I will miss our lessons but know that I'll hear about you from your friend who has patiently been waiting to take over your slot!

Good luck with your DoE next week, your last year of school, your exams, and getting into the university of your choosing. And I hope to see you around, as you only live in the next village!!

Oh, and well done to your dad who has done a fantastic job of supporting you in the many, many journeys you've done in your own car. It's not easy taking on that role

A yay for today!!! Congratulations to Susan who has this morning exchanged her American licence for a British one, by passing her test with just 3 driver faults.

Susan knew that there were areas of competence and skills that she needed improving on and so reached out to me. To say roundabouts aren’t a favourite would be something of an understatement!” 😄. Our roads are a heck of a lot narrower than she's used to as well!

Susan took the test in her own automatic car while I am away. We will definitely have to catch up when I get back

Second yay of the day goes to Georgia who passed her driving test today with only a handful of driver faults. Examiner said he enjoyed the drive and even thanked her!!!!

This is going to make life so much easier for Georgia as she lives in Teignmouth but works in Okehampton, and is planning on starting a course at Bicton College in September.

Congratulations! It's been such a pleasure teaching you and I'm so glad you were able to gain your freedom today
