December 1st is World AIDS day. To commemorate this, Ben, an outreach worker from The Eddystone Trust (a local sexual health charity) will be giving a talk on the history of HIV/AIDS and discussing LGBTQ+ inclusive sexual health on Nov 30th. Everyone is welcome, and questions are very much encouraged. This will also be an opportunity to pick up some free condoms (internal and external), l**e and/or dental dams if you'd like! Come join us in Forum Seminar Room 5, 5:30pm-6:30pm :)

Accessibility info: Forum Seminar Room 5 is on the ground floor of the Forum, Streatham Campus. There are no steps between the entrance to the Forum and the room itself. There are gender neutral and accessible toilets approximately 2 mins from the room (if you don't know where they are, you're welcome to ask at the event and we can point them out!). You are welcome to wear noise cancelling headphones or earplugs if you wish. The Seminar Rooms can sometimes have bright artificial lighting - we will try to turn this down as much as we can, but cannot guarantee gentle lighting. Though this talk will inevitably discuss homophobia, it is not anticipated to be covered in detail, and no other potentially triggering topics are anticipated to be discussed. If this changes, a content warning will be given at the beginning of the talk and on our social media. You are welcome to leave and rejoin the room to suit your needs.

Join us this Sunday for a trip to Exeter’s symbolic St. Nicholas’ Priory, regarded as the oldest preserved building in the city! We’ll be exploring the historic building (and raiding a medieval wardrobe to try on some attire).

Sadly the Priory has limited wheelchair accessibility. Ramps are present on the ground floor, but the only way of accessing the rest of the building is via stairs.

Tickets are on FIXR now! We can’t wait to see you all there :)

We held the Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil with the Trans and Non-Binary Cafe and the LGBTQ+ Staff Network earlier.

For those that don't know what it is, TDOR is an event in which we read out the list of names of those Trans people who have died across the globe since last year's vigil.

This year there were 393 names.

The oldest was 98 and the youngest was 11.

Not all deaths will have been recorded, not all names or circumstances will be accurate, but the list is far too long.

Many people this year expressed anger and sadness at the list and at the pain it represents. Others also highlighted how the majority of names were from South America, and that we need to be cognizant of the global nature of this problem, as well as the racism within the q***r and trans communities.

People also brought up the idea of joy. That we as a community are fuelled by both our anger and our joy. The joy that comes from being called by your name for the first time. The joy you gain when you're gendered correctly by a stranger. The joy that's found when trans people come together as an act of resistance and pride.

We wanted to thank everyone who attended, or who wanted to attend but couldn't, it was amazing to see you all there.

To any Trans individuals reading this, please remember that it's okay to feel angry, it's okay to feel upset, but also remember that you have a community of people who are here to support you and who love you.

Come join LGBTQ+ members for a bicycle ride and coffee on Wednesday the 22nd of November! 🥰🚴‍♂️🏳️‍🌈

We’ll be leaving from the bottom of forum hill at 13:00 and cycling to Dawlish Warren, maybe stopping for a brief swim (only for those who would like to:) and catching the train back! ☺️ If you don’t have a bicycle in exeter or don’t fancy a cycle you can join us in Dawlish Warren at around 14:30 or meet us for coffee at the tiny tasting room at 16:00!

See you there 🥰🦭
