MANIFESTO: - here’s what I want to do for you as your VP Welfare & Diversity:
Wellbeing – More funding for wellbeing services, alongside better communication of already available wellbeing support. Personal tutors should all receive a basic level of wellbeing training. I promise to be approachable, spending time outside the office and always be available to talk about your concerns. I would like
to spread January exams over a 2nd week and push for a reading week in October to reduce stress. Exeter for all – Everyone should be able to feel like Exeter is home. Working alongside students, I will produce dedicated welcome packs for Postgraduates, International Students and those on years abroad or in industry. I also aim to set up subsidised society memberships for those who cannot afford the current joining fees. I will push for more funding for music facilities and more opportunities to have live music on campus. This would include a regular slot on St Luke’s, and a week of music from around the world on Streatham. Diversity training would be part of society training as standard. Housing – Housing becomes more of an issue every year. I will do everything I can to freeze University accommodation prices. I will work with landlords and letting agents across the city to encourage them to release housing lists later in the year to make housing less stressful and give everyone a fair chance of finding the right home. Eating – I would create more catering outlets on campus, which would also reduce the queues. Healthier and more diverse food options should be available (including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free). Food on campus is expensive, I would also ensure there are more microwaves for those who bring their lunch with them. Bleed Green – Our environment is important. I will increase levels of recycling, including working towards glass recycling collection. I will increase levels of Fairtrade on campus and work on donating leftover food in University owned outlets to Exeter foodbank and homeless shelters. A bit more oil on the revolving doors in the forum. A 3rd year BA Geography student, I have loved my time at Exeter, and would be delighted to be given the chance to ensure as many people as possible have the best time here they can. Senior Student Ambassador – I already represent Exeter at external events, I think I can represent you in the Guild. Environment & Ethics officer – I lead the guild Environment and Ethics working group, making positive environmental change. I have experience of making and keeping manifesto promises. Guild Councillor - I already represent you and your views in the Guild, and have a good understanding of how the Guild works. If you like what you read
