🏛️🗿 University of Sussex Professor of Human Geography JoAnn McGregor has played a key role in the repatriation of 45 objects from a nineteenth-century ethnographic collection at Brighton Museum to 's Khama III Memorial Museum.

🌍🤝The items included clothing, accessories, hunting implements and domestic objects and their return was the result of collaborative research undertaken through the Arts and Humanities Research Council - AHRC-funded Making African Connections project (2019–2021), led by Professor McGregor.

The of the was marked by a two-day international summit and was widely celebrated in Botswana, including in national media, as a “great return”.

♻️🌱Can sustainability exist within endless growth?

As continues to rise globally, this question becomes an increasingly important one to answer.

✏In his recent Monthly Review article, Professor Benjamin Selwyn explores how many practices celebrated today as innovative sustainability strategies were already identified by Karl Marx over a century ago.

The article challenges mainstream circular economy narratives that promise sustainability without questioning the underlying systems driving , exploitation, and environmental destruction.

It concludes: 'By reducing and eventually eliminating extraction-production-consumption-disposal/waste under competitive accumulation, it would be possible to rationally plan production to meet human and our planet’s environmental needs.'
