Last but not least, Immy Starr 1st year Dance and Choreography student at Falmouth university.

What has been your biggest influence/ inspiration?

I can't say there's one big influence rather lots of mini ones, like my friends and family.

What did you want to be when you were younger? Did you always want to be a dancer?

As a child I wanted to be a farmer however, I always went to ballet and as I go old older my love of dance over took farming.

What are you looking forward to about purity(ambiguity)?

I'm so excited to perform purity(ambiguity) as we have worked so hard on it and it will be great to share the work with others. I love the piece so getting to finally perform it will be fun.

What has been your biggest influence/ inspiration?

I wouldn't say I have a number 1 influence as I have been influenced and inspired by my family, friends and my dance teachers and lecturers I have had along the way. But I am constantly inspired by new events or people that happen in my life.

What did you want to do when you were younger? Did you always want to be a dancer/ choreographer?

When I was younger I had many interests, but I really wanted to be a fireman or a crocodile handler (neither of those have happened) However, my mum always told me that because I had so much energy she enrolled me in as many physical activities as possible. It wasnt until I saw a Graham Murphy piece at the age of 10 that I knew dance and choreography was something I wanted to pursue.

What are you looking forward to about purity(ambiguity)?

I am super excited about the performance !!! The process has been amazing and I have been lucky enough to share it with 5 fantastic people and dancers. It will definitely be a mix of emotions tomorrow night but I can not wait to see the outcome as everyone involved has been ace.

What has been your biggest inspiration/ influence and why?

I am hugely influenced and inspired by the people that surround me- my family, my friends, teachers and peers! I'd say my major inspiration within dance was a girl that attended my local dance school. I was in awe of the presence she held on the stage. I could watch her dance all day!

What did you want to be when you were younger? Did you always want to be a dancer?

Funnily enough, I was always set on being a nurse! Although I've always loved dance, my passion was only really fuelled at around the age of 14 when something 'clicked' and I found my love for being on the stage, which I know will never leave me.

What are you looking forward to about purity(ambiguity)?

All of it! I just love performing, so I am very excited! I know how much hard work, dedication and passion myself and the other five dancers have put into this work. I can't think of a better way to end my three years at Falmouth University and perform alongside five very talented dancers.

What has been your biggest inspiration/ influence?

I'm not sure what my biggest inspiration/influence has been! I think its more than one thing, some of which I'm not even aware of. My parents have always been a huge inspiration for me, as they support and encourage me to work hard. My past teachers in dance have all played a role in influencing the way I move and think about dance.

What did you want to be when you were younger? Did you always want to be a dancer?

Growing up I've never had a clear idea of what I wanted to 'do', but remember wanting to be a teacher at a young age, before deciding that I wanted to have a career in dance- whatever that may be. I also have a strong interest in photography and pilates which would have been and still are possibilities to pursue.

What are you looking forward to about purity(ambiguity)?

am so ridiculously excited to perform in 'purity(ambiguity)'. As a company we have spent a lot of time on the creation of the piece, a piece I feel proud to show. I absolutely love performing and am particularly excited to perform with the other company members of Compound Dance.

What has been your biggest inspiration/ influence and why?

In all honesty, I would really struggle to single out one person/performance that has been my biggest inspiration and influence. Instead, it would perhaps be true to say that I’ve been inspired by lots of people along my dance journey. From teachers, to friends and colleagues – they have all provided me with different, yet equally valuable, inspiration and influences.

What did you want to be when you were younger? Did you always want to be a dancer?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to dance. I often think how different life would have been had my Mum not taken me to a ‘Baby Ballet’ class shortly after my third birthday!

What are you most looking forward to about purity(ambiguity)?

There are so many different things that I am looking forward to, although perhaps the most exciting is the sense of pride and achievement I will feel once the performance is over! I am so proud, not only of myself but of the other five performers who will be dancing alongside me. Lets’ go out with a bang!!

In the week leading up to our Performance we have decided to introduce you to the 6 company members that make up Compound Dance.

Alice Briggs, 3rd Year Dance Performance student at Falmouth University.

What has been your biggest inspiration/ influence and why?

I can’t think of one specific thing that initially influenced me to dance. Like many other little girls, I was taken to dance classes around the age of two, and the rest is history really. I think my Granddad has perhaps been one of my biggest supporters and inspirations, and I think his enjoyment of dancing is something that I will always remember him for.

What did you want to be when you were younger? Did you always want to be a dancer?

Dancing is one of the only things I have ever wanted to do, and actually one of the only things I’m any good at! I always dreamt of being a ‘Prima Ballerina’, (and at one point a ‘ballet dancing vet’) but that dream vanished when I realised that I am definitely not built to be a ballet dancer!

What are you most looking forward to about purity(ambiguity) ?

I have always loved being on stage and performing, so I think that the thing that I am most looking forward to is the adrenaline rush you get from being on stage! purity(ambiguity) is the first full length piece I have helped to create, and performing something that I can say that we created and are truly proud of is such an amazing thing! I’m so excited to see how it all unfolds!
