✨ 2025/2026 GUBS Highlights ✨

As this year comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible year it has been for GUBS. 💙

From our themed Star Baker events to charity bakes, cosy socials, and wellbeing events, this year has been full of creativity, laughter, and some seriously amazing bakes. More than anything, we’ve built something really special together - a supportive, welcoming community of bakers who come together not just to bake, but to connect. 🧁

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our events, baked something new, supported our charity efforts, or simply shared in the joy of good food and good company. GUBS wouldn’t be what it is without all of you. 🫶💕

We also want to say a massive thank you to all of the societies, groups, and partners we collaborated with this year. Your support and enthusiasm made our events even more special, and we loved working together to bring people together through baking. 🤝✨

To our incredible committee (getting emotional here 😭) thank you for all the time, energy, and care you put into making this year happen. Running a society takes a lot behind the scenes, and this year wouldn’t have been possible without such a dedicated and passionate team. ✨

And finally, good luck to next year’s committee! We can’t wait to see how GUBS continues to grow. We hope you keep building this amazing community and creating even more memories (and even more delicious bakes). 🍰

Introducing our newest Star Baker from our STEM Quiz Night collab with Fem Eng Society… Molly! 👏🍞

While focaccia might not have been the most on-theme bake of the evening… the dedication, determination, and sheer commitment to making a successful focaccia absolutely stole the show (and the win 🏆).

Sometimes it’s not just about the theme — it’s about the perseverance. And Molly proved that persistence pays off!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Quiz Night 2026 — we loved seeing so many of you there and bringing the competitive spirit!

👏 Massive congratulations to our winning team — very well deserved!

🍞 And a special shoutout to our ⭐ Star Baker, Molly, for her amazing focaccia (it was incredible!) and for never giving up on perfecting her bread-making skills. We love the dedication!

We hope everyone had a fantastic time filled with laughs, good food, and great company 💙

Baking Society x GU GUEST (Environmental Sustainability Team)

We’ve teamed up with the GU GUEST Environmental Sustainability Team to bring you a Valentine’s-themed Pot Luck at the Eco Hub — all about good food, good company, and tackling student loneliness 💛

At Baking Society, we pride ourselves on being friendly, inclusive, and welcoming, so whether you’re coming with friends or flying solo, this is absolutely an event you don’t want to miss.

We’re teaming up with FemEng Society for a STEM-themed Quiz Night + Bake Off — because what’s better than using your brain and eating cake?

What’s happening?

🧠 A quiz guaranteed to make you question everything you thought you knew!

🍰 STEM-themed bakes (rocket cakes, circuit cupcakes, periodic-table brownies… extra points for structural integrity 👀)

🏆 Prizes for Best Bake and Quiz Winner

Important info (pls read so we don’t panic on the night):
✨ The event is FREE
✨ Bring a bake (it’s not compulsory… but it is strongly encouraged 😌)
✨ Bring a plastic tub/box for your bake
✨ Bring cutlery for sharing
✨ Bring a water bottle or drink of choice (hydration = good engineering)
