Today we caught up with Tilly and Victoria, first-year apprentices at Safran Landing Systems, to celebrate Engineering and more importantly, International Women in Engineering Day.

It was inspiring to hear about their experiences so far in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry that is rapidly becoming more diverse and inclusive.

Swipe through to read about their experiences, insights, and advice for others considering a career in engineering.

šŸ¹Ā Congratulations to GET-sponsored athlete and apprentice, Emelia Hughes!

We are incredibly proud to support Emelia as she represents Great Britain in archery on the international stage.

Competing at the European Youth Cup in Ruse, Bulgaria, Emelia took part in the Under 21 Women's Recurve category, where she achieved an impressive 14th place qualification out of 52 competitors, ranking as the highest-placed of the three GB women.Ā

As part of the GB women's team alongside Holly and Nicole, they progressed all the way to the Gold Medal Match, defeating teams from Israel, Ukraine and Russia before narrowly missing out to Germany and returning home with a fantastic Silver Medal. 🄈

Emelia also competed in the individual event and mixed team competition with fellow GB archer Sam Ball. The tournament attracted competitors from over 30 countries and took place across a week of elite international competition.

Speaking about the experience, Emelia said:
"I'm really grateful for the support of GET and my sponsors. Attending these events costs a lot of money, and I wouldn't be able to do it without their support."

We are delighted to play a small part in helping talented young people achieve their goals, both in their careers and in sport.

Good luck to Emelia as she prepares for her next international event, theĀ European Youth Championships in RomeĀ at the end of July. We'll be cheering you on every step of the way!

Ben and Joe excelled during the electronics phase of their first year. Both completed all training and assessed tasks well ahead of schedule.

Keen to progress, both selected the complex ā€˜Led Zeppelin’ circuit. Each built their circuit neatly and with a logical layout.

Their positive approach to training and excellent work ethic earned them a well deserved Level 2+ certificate.

Well done Joe and Ben! šŸ‘

On Wednesday 20th May the Industrial Electronics regional event was held under the supervision of Industrial Electronics Training Manager Steve at Gloucestershire Engineering Training.

Four GET apprentices embarked upon their World Skills journey each vying for a potential place in the UK Finals and eventually on to the World Skills final to be held in Japan in 2028.

Ben, Jared, Joe and Max have all shown a great aptitude during their electronics training at GET and were keen to showcase their skills and represent their respective employers.

Please join GET in wishing them well on their journey and hopefully the accolade of representing the United Kingdom in 2028
