Congratulations to Ishmeet, who has been named West Thames College’s first-ever Graduate of the Year! 🌟🎓

Since joining the College on a Level 1 ESOL programme in 2023, Ishmeet has shown exceptional determination, progressing to Level 4 Business Administration while taking on leadership roles as Student Union President, Student Ambassador and Class Representative.

Recognised for her academic excellence, leadership and contribution to college life, Ishmeet has also secured offers to study Law at university. A truly inspiring achievement and a well-deserved honour.

Huge congratulations to our Maths Challenge teams on their incredible success in the Further Education Maths Challenge 2026!

🥇 The Funkies (Keiran, Ashima and Alessia) achieved 1st place in the Regional Final and went on to become National Champions, winning Gold medals.

🥉 Go Forth (Ahmed, Yevhen, Miski and Aldrin) secured 3rd place in the Regional Final and Bronze medals, while EIN2STEIN (Asra, Seyed, Mathumitha and Khadeejah) achieved an impressive 4th place.

We're also proud to announce that West Thames College has been selected as a Regional Centre for the 2026–2027 Maths Challenge.

Congratulations to our Higher Education Class of 2026! 🎓On Thursday 11 June, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates at West Thames College's Higher Education Graduation Ceremony.

Joined by family, friends, tutors and staff, our graduates marked the successful completion of their studies and were recognised for their hard work, determination and resilience throughout their journey.

As each student crossed the stage to receive their award, there was a real sense of pride, achievement and excitement for the future. Whether progressing into employment, further study or launching their own ventures, our graduates leave with the skills, confidence and knowledge to take their next steps.

Following our Outstanding Ofsted rating, this year's graduates are part of a remarkable success story built on ambition, excellence and opportunity.

Level 3 Aviation Operations Year 2 students had the exciting opportunity to visit Heathrow Airport and gain a behind-the-scenes insight into the Terminal 5 passenger baggage operation ✈️

Guided by three members of the Heathrow Operations Team, students explored the fully mechanised baggage handling system and learned about the complex processes that ensure baggage is transported safely, securely and efficiently. The team provided detailed explanations of each stage of the journey, giving students a valuable understanding of the operational and security procedures that keep one of the world’s busiest airports running smoothly.

Joseph Kabia, Lecturer in Business & Travel, said: "The students would like to express their sincere thanks to the Heathrow Operations Team members for their professionalism and for delivering such an informative presentation throughout the tour. The visit was regarded as one of the most beneficial aviation-related trips undertaken during their two years on the course."

The visit provided an outstanding real-world learning experience, helping students connect classroom theory with industry practice. With so much more of Heathrow to explore, we are delighted to see these opportunities available to our learners and look forward to organising future industry visits, including insights into the airside ramp area and other key operational environments across the airport.
