Our in-house podcast produced by English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teachers has gone global 🌍

The Radio ESOL podcast, which started as a platform for students to share their lockdown experiences back in 2021, has now reached over 100 countries worldwide.

As a result of the podcast, learners have improved their speaking and listening skills as well as grown in confidence.

One student, Islam Ali, said: “Three years ago, I didn’t have any confidence to speak English, but after participating in Radio ESOL, I gained the confidence to speak.”

Another student, Aidel Borges, added: “It's fun, helps you gain more confidence, and also helps you learn more vocabulary. I don't miss a single episode.”

🐶 Paws in the Park is back! Join us for a fantastic family day out! 🐶

We are hosting a day full of fun, dogs, and activities and everyone is welcome—including your pooch!

🗓️ Saturday 13 June
⏰ 10am – 3pm
📍 Temple Newsam Park

Entry to the main event is completely FREE and no booking is required. Even better, all proceeds raised during the day go straight to the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch to help fund their vital work with animals.

The event will include a fun dog show with multiple competitions, a variety of stalls and fundraising.

🎓 Interested in Animal Care or Land Management courses?
If you are a prospective student, this is your chance to explore our facilities! Staff from Leeds City College will be running guided tours at 11am and 1pm to answer your questions about the curriculum and help you apply on the day.

🎟️ Tour Booking Info: While the main festival is free entry, booking is required for the potential student tour (one ticket per family).
🐾 Please note: While dogs are welcome at the main event, they are NOT permitted on the farm tours to ensure the safety and peace of mind of the farm animals.

Our Public Services students brought road safety to life with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service before the Easter break. 🚒

Over 400 students took part in a two-day road safety education event delivered by staff from Hunslet Fire Station at our Quarry Hill campus.

Each day concluded with a live road traffic collision demonstration, using student volunteers as casualties to reinforce key road safety messages and highlight the role of West Yorkshire Fire Service at these incidents.

A great insight for our students, providing them with knowledge and awareness not only for their future careers but everyday life.

Sustainable meets sensory at Leeds City College🌳

Our high-needs students at The Vine campus have benefited from a new purpose-built sensory wall in collaboration with the RE: Workshop.

Staff and students worked together to create a digital sensory wall which incorporates touch sensitive lights, electric drums and projectors.

This is the latest project from the partnership - which has also produced bespoke accessibility equipment and sensory music equipment all of which support the learners’ engagement and wellbeing 💚
