Central Village Composting

Central Village Composting Central Village is now working with the LUU to recycle food waste. For this to work we need your help. Over Easter all flats will receive their own bin.

Many of you may have come from areas where the local council runs food waste recycling schemes. However, due to the lack of funding, Leeds City Council can only recycle in small parts of the city. Central Village is now working with the LUU to recycle food waste which will be anaerobically digested. Over Easter each flat will receive a caddy bin which is designed to collect food waste. The bins wi

ll need to be emptied on a regular basis by the students. The collected food waste will then be sent off to Doncaster for anaerobic digestion for sustainable uses. We want to encourage everyone in Central Village to take part in this scheme which, if proven successful, will be introduced into other University of Leeds residences. Keep an eye out for prize draws and competitions!
