🇮🇪 MANCHESTER MARTYRS COMMEMORATION PARADE – UPDATE 🇮🇪

Following discussions, the Manchester Martyrs Commemoration Parade planned for 28 November 2026, will now be postponed until 2027.

Next year marks the 160th anniversary of the Manchester Martyrs – William Philip Allen, Michael Larkin and Michael O'Brien – executed on 23 November 1867.

We believe this significant anniversary provides an opportunity to organise a major commemoration in Manchester, bringing together the traditional wreath-laying, a commemorative parade and evening events as part of a coordinated programme.

We look forward to working together over the coming year to give the Manchester Martyrs a fitting 160th anniversary commemoration.

Further details will be announced in due course.

🇮🇪 MANCHESTER MARTYRS COMMEMORATION PARADE 2026 🇮🇪

We are proud to announce a Manchester Martyrs Commemoration Parade through Manchester City Centre to mark the 159th anniversary of the Manchester Martyrs – William Philip Allen, Michael Larkin and Michael O’Brien.

This year will see two commemorative events in Manchester.

The traditional annual commemoration will take place on Saturday 21st November at the Manchester Martyrs Monument in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Moston.

The following Saturday, the Manchester Martyrs Commemoration Parade will take place:
📅 Saturday 28th November 2026
⏰ Assemble 11:30am
📍 Irish World Heritage Centre, Cheetham Hill, M8 0AE

The procession will make its way through Manchester City Centre, bringing the tradition of a Manchester Martyrs procession back onto the streets of Manchester.

Further details and arrangements for the day will be announced in due course

Due to the ongoing situation surrounding the Garvaghy Road in Portadown today, Sinn Féin have announced the cancellation of tonight’s planned fringe meeting at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool.

We would like to take this opportunity to send our solidarity and support to the residents of the Garvaghy Road at what is a particularly sensitive time for the local community.

The events surrounding Drumcree and the Garvaghy Road have a long and difficult history, and we hope that today passes peacefully and that the concerns of residents are heard and respected.

Our thoughts are with the Garvaghy Road community today. 🇮🇪

Liverpool An Gorta Mór Commemoration 2026

Saturday 5 December 2026 | 12:00 PM

Join us in Liverpool as we gather to remember the victims of An Gorta Mór, the Great Irish Famine of 1845–1852, and honour the memory of those who were forced to leave Ireland in search of a better life.

Liverpool played a significant role in the history of the Great Famine, becoming a major port of arrival for hundreds of thousands of Irish people fleeing hunger, poverty and displacement.

This commemoration will bring our community together in remembrance of those who suffered, those who perished and those who made Liverpool their new home.

Event Details

📍 Assembly: Liverpool Lime Street Station, Skelhorne Street side

🕛 Assemble: 12:00 PM

🚶 March departs: 12:30 PM

📍 Destination: Famine Monument, St Luke's Gardens, Liverpool

The commemorative march will be led by pipers and will conclude with speeches and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Famine Monument.

All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
