Reconstructive surgery encompasses almost all disability, whether it be from injury, burns, cancer or congenital defects. Facial deformity frequently results in children and adults being ostracised from their local communities, surviving only by begging on the streets. At present these conditions are often untreated or inadequately treated, resulting in high mortality or devastatingly severe lifel
ong disability that can lead to them being unable to work, often becoming destitute. BAPRAS is our largest and founding donor. By working closely with BAPRAS and it’s members, BFIRST is able to draw on the large and diverse skills of the membership of the parent Association for appropriately trained and accredited Consultants to train overseas as well as contacts and advice.
