Today is the start of a new academic year. All Student accounts will be setup and ready to use.

Students get 1gb college network storage space which is only available whilst in college. All student get unlimited storage space through OneDrive, which can be accessed from anywhere.

From the email system, you will also be able to download your free copy of Microsoft Office for home. This will be valid for students whilst you are studying at Tameside College or Clarendon Sixth Form College.

As part of our annual processes, all student accounts will be removed from the system on Friday 26th August.

Returning students; we will take a copy of the G: drive and next academic year it will be shown as L: drive. We advise that you also take your own copy of your G: drive before you leave college for the summer break. For Apple Mac users you will need to take a copy of everything from your desktop to ensure you retain the copy.

You will also have to take a copy of everything from your OneDrive account. Although this will be available for restoration only until the 20th September.

More news on this will come towards August.

Ever lost a USB memory stick and never found it?

Why not use OneDrive, which is available as part of the Office 365 system.

Simply login to your college email system and click on the link at the top right of the screen and select OneDrive. Then just simply drag and drop files in to the web browser and access them from anywhere.

We are currently experiencing an issue with connectivity to the internet from within the college. Our supplier has been made aware of the issue and are currently looking into resolving it as soon as they can.

We are currently experiencing issues with our wireless connection to Student Access and The Cloud. We are working on the problem and hope to have it resolved soon

Also next academic year students usernames will be changed to a new format.

Some of the figures of usage from the last month, to show how much our wireless network is being used.

There were over 4250 unique devices attached over the last month with an average of over 780 devices per day.

Download and upload over the wireless network was over 1.6TB which is equivalent to watching over 1092 2 hour films at home which would take over 3 months to watch with no breaks.

Types of devices connecting were:-

1. Apple with over 50%
2. Android with over 30%
3. Windows with over 13%
4. Chrome OS, Blackberry and other take up the rest.

Why not use you Microsoft OneDrive for unlimited space so you can access your college work from within college or at home.

To access your Microsoft OneDrive login to your college email account using https://portal.microsoftonline.com using your college username with ".ac.uk" e.g. [email protected] and use your college password. The link to OneDrive is at the top of the screen.

You can copy documents to the OneDrive or edit them within your web browser.

You can also use your username and password to access the official Microsoft Office apps for iPads and Android.
