Collegae, non collegium
--------------------------------
“… a fair proportion of eccentrics, foreigners, outsiders, revolutionaries, and other misfits. The Society finds a home for them all and then leaves them to their own devices. The inevitable result is that the membership of the Society is remarkably variegated"
"The St Cuthbert’s stereotype is that there is no St Cuthbert’s stereotype. Another result is that the life of the Society is extremely difficult to manage, and successive Principals have adopted the wise policy of not even making the attempt”
"... nothing like a college. It was essentially a private student club, established to promote the collective interests of its members and governed by its elected president"
Henry Tudor
