LRSA Presidents Prize Design Competition 2025

OVERALL WINNER: Markit!

The judges had their work cut out for them this year, and more than a few lively arguments along the way!

After much discussion, a beautifully thought-out concept, Markit gives vendors control through a modular and customisable stall system, built from recycled plastics, waxed cotton, and sustainable pine. The design blends flexibility, sustainability, and individuality — reflecting the true spirit of a community market.

The results are in! We’re thrilled to announce the Loughborough winner: The Fold Market!

This imaginative design celebrates Leicester’s heritage through a modular pulley-based market stall system, inspired by the city’s textile traditions and the communal spirit of the maypole. Flexible, sustainable, and community-driven — The Fold Market truly embodies the competition’s spirit.

It wasn’t an easy decision (there were a few strong opinions in the room!), but we’re proud of our judges for recognising such thoughtful, people-centred design.
