Biodiversity science is an interdisciplinary field that embraces aspects of both the natural and social sciences that are relevant to describing, managing and conserving biological diversity. The Biodiversity Institute of Oxford (BIO) has been established to focus existing biodiversity research strengths across the University and to enhance links between the Institute, other relevant departments i

n the University, and stakeholders in government and non-government organisations. It aims to develop a research agenda focused on the key challenges for global biological diversity in the 21st Century and to facilitate the translation of science into policy, planning and strategy. The Biodiversity Institute is a member of the Oxford Martin School, an interdisciplinary research initiative at Oxford University that aims to tackle global 21st Century challenges.
