Inquisitive About Nature

Inquisitive About Nature We believe that people's access to science should not be limited by wealth or social status. Involve Idea hypothesis testable prediction experiment result.

Something new
Inquisitive About Nature (IAN) is small group of passionate individuals dedicated to reducing the exclusive barriers which exist between people and science. We strongly believe that people’s quality of life would increase with a better ability to appraise evidence and take an objective and scientific interest in the world around them. We aim to do this through volunteer-run research

projects which will take the exciting ideas of young people and watch them develop into full projects testing real and relevant predictions of hypotheses resulting in useful conclusions which can be used in conservation decisions. Among our founders, we have skills in research methods, veterinary science, statistics and design and marketing, and consequently our project interests are incredibly diverse. Everybody can do science
Critical thinking is key to reducing the exclusivity of science to people of all ages. Inquisitive About Nature aims to encourage critical thinking by providing a platform for young people to develop skills, try them out and have a tangible impact through real-life projects. Facilitating people’s exploration of nature through the eye of evidence-based reasoning we will demonstrate that publishable science and evidence-driven conservation does not need to be confined to a rarefied university atmosphere. Projects run by and for young learners
Our projects will be designed and executed by normal people using fundamental scientific principles. We will encourage experts to freely give their time to offer advice to people running projects and to aid in the scientific process of peer review, but the development of our projects will be by normal people who choose to get involved with spreading the basic scientific method. Funding
We aim to keep project costs low and use bright ideas to generate project ideas which do not require large cash outlays. Projects will initially be funded through donations, primarily from project participants. We request that everybody who gets involved fills out a ‘grant form’ which will make sure that those people who cannot afford to pay are given as much support as possible, in line with our inclusive principles. Ultimately, we aim to secure EU and Lottery funding so that young people from across Europe can participate in our projects. Get involved
If you have an idea for an interesting project and you think it’s feasible on a low budget then get in touch. If you are interested in getting involved in an existing project then get in touch also! We are always interested in hearing from enthusiastic individuals who would like to give something to the community while expanding their skill sets and designing real science. Please email [email protected] if you would like to respond to any of these requests.
