We were thrilled to welcome local students to campus this week to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day with a special motorsport masterclass.

From building and racing "rocket cars" to hearing career advice from Iron Dames racer Karen Gaillard and engineers from the Mercedes-Petronas F1 team, it was a fantastic day designed to spark curiosity and build confidence.

Our goal is simple: to show girls that engineering is a field where they can thrive, lead, and follow their dreams.

We recently wrapped up a fantastic "Levelling UP Computer Science" series for Year 12 students. It was an amazing opportunity to explore everything from AI and Cybersecurity to Creative Coding—all guided by our female undergraduates.

The feedback has been wonderful: 75% of the students who joined us are now even more likely to consider Oxford Brookes for their future studies! A big thank you to the British Computer Society for their support in making these opportunities accessible to the next generation of innovators.

It’s inspiring to see how our ‘Inspire to Empower’ and ‘STEM Fusion’ events are helping teenage girls from different backgrounds explore their futures. Through the Study Higher programme, we’re connecting students from schools like Cressex Community in High Wycombe, Cheney School in Oxford and St Michael’s in Aylesbury with relatable professionals and ambassadors who can offer real-world advice and guidance. Breaking down barriers starts with representation and shared experience. 🎓✨
