New research reveals what many pet parents already feel: the bond you share with your dog truly matters! 🐾 A recent study published in Scientific Reports shows that a secure relationship with your dog reduces stress and protects their long-term health. Researchers found that dogs with a secure attachment handle stress better, while anxious attachments can increase their physiological stress levels. The key takeaway? Your affection—caresses, closeness, and physical contact—is a powerful protective factor for your dog's well-being.

Work is taking place at Headington Campus this week to replace glass roof panels on the Abercrombie building and above the library area of the John Henry Brookes Building.

Preparations for this work are set to take place this week, with the replacement of the panels expected to take place over the weekend of 1 and 2 August to help reduce disruption.

Due to the complexity of this work, there will be changes to access arrangements that will be clearly signposted while the work takes place.

Why are so many laws named after victims?

From Sarah's Law to Clare's Law, legislation named after individuals has become an increasingly familiar feature of public life. But what does this tell us about politics, justice and the way laws are made?

That question is at the heart of Professor Michael Lister's co-authored research, 'Stop in the Law of the Name! Nominative Lawmaking, Populism and Justice', which explores the rise and significance of "nominative laws".

The article, written with Lee Jarvis and Alex Powell, has now been recognised with the Bernard Crick Prize.
