🌾 Let’s Talk Menopause 🌾

Menopause is part of life, but it’s not often spoken about, especially in farming and crofting.

This October, Farmstrong Scotland is launching a campaign to help change that.

💬 We’d love to hear from women in farming and crofting who are happy to share their experiences.

Your story could make a real difference.

👉 Send us a message if you’d like to be involved, or email [email protected]

📣 SWI Members – We Need You! 🎨🧶

We’re getting ready for the Creative Crafts Show in Glasgow, running from 23rd–26th October, and we're looking for demonstrators and helpers to help make it a success!

✨ Demonstrators:
We’re looking for one member each day to run two Make & Take craft sessions. A brilliant opportunity to showcase your skills and get others crafting!

We need 3–4 volunteers per day to help on the SWI stand. Just a 2-hour shift on a day of your choice - chatting to visitors, sharing what we do, and keeping things running smoothly.

Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just love chatting to people about the SWI, we’d love to have you on board!

👉 If you're interested in demonstrating or volunteering, please get in touch by emailing [email protected] or send us a message!

Let’s show everyone what the SWI is all about! 💙

On Wednesday we braved the rain when we had our joint summer outing to Archerfield Walled Garden with Cranstoun SWI and Cousland SWI. The ladies enjoyed a fantastic introductory talk from head gardener Kerry in the comfort of the polytunnel before venturing out into the beautiful, if drenched, gardens. Tea and cake followed in the café along with a bit of retail therapy in the shop and garden centre before we headed back up to The Stair Arms Hotel for dinner. A great day was had by all and we are looking forward to planning for when we resume our meetings in September.

Reminder it’s our Federation Summer Social meeting on 4th June which will take the form of a quiz. There’s still time to do some cramming!! We hope to see lots of members coming along to join in the fun. Don’t worry if you don’t wish to take part in the quiz, just come along for the social get together and refreshments. We’d love to see you.

Spring has definitely sprung and we're preparing for our April meeting.
In March we had an absolute ball with the chaps from Lothian Relics and Charity Digs who explained all about metal detecting. I for one did not expect it to be particularly interesting and not really my cup of tea...however I'm happy to admit I was completely wrong. ( first time in an otherwise flawless life 😉 )
It was excellent, really interesting and very enjoyable. They brought lots of their "finds" and told us all about the areas they've been and are going to. I have photos but sadly this is where my IT skills let me down and my flawless existence lie becomes obvious as I can't find them. I will post as soon as I can find where I safely filed them 🤨 What I will say is if metal detecting is something you've fancied trying definitely give it a go. They will give you a detector and a patch and off you go. They also have smaller equipment for children and you'll get a cuppa or a bowl of soup after.

Our next meeting is hosted by the ladies from Cranstoun on the 14th April in Pathhead Bowling Club, come along you'll be very welcome. Theres a talk from a lady about wool and who knows I may have even found the photos by then 😘

Come along to our next meeting Monday 10th March at 7pm in Pathhead Bowling Club.
It should be an interesting talk from the metal detector group. I’ve always wondered what they actually find.
Bring anything you’ve found regardless of what it is, you liked it enough to pick it up.
Ive seen them in the fields lots of times they’ve obviously seen me as they mention relic…how rude! 😂 See you on Monday
