Funny You Should Ask

Funny You Should Ask The FYSA team is comprised of a core team of fantastic people from within Sheffield University.

Co-founder and Company Manager Matt Woodhead is 20 years old and in his second year studying English & History at the University of Sheffield. He is a member of Sheffield University Theatre Company and has performed in their productions of King Lear and Frankenstein, and also starred in 'The Rover' at The Crucible Theatre. He is a member of the National Youth Theatre and trained for 5 years under

Alison Price Jones, a founding member of Opera North, in Opera and Performance through song. He has also worked with her husband, the conductor of the Royal Northern Ballet, for 2 years. Co-founder and Outreach Officer Tom Lodge is on the verge of turning 20, and as part of this approach to the midlife crisis became co-founder of Funny You Should Ask, as well as trying to keep his head above the waters of his second year studying English and Theatre at the University of Sheffield. His recent directorial credits include FAME for Sheffield University Performing Arts Society, The Last Five Years for Funny You Should Ask, and Humble Boy for Sheffield University Theatre Company. He is also one of the selected writers for Sheffield Theatre's production of Twenty Tiny Plays About Sheffield this April, and is looking forward to casting the theatrical net wider through his collaboration with Headlock Theatre next year. Tom is both excited and terrified to be taking a show to the Fringe in August, where the production team is many times bigger than the cast.

On 11th May 1985 fifty four Bradford City Supporters and two Lincoln City supporters lost their lives in the Bradford City Fire. 'The 56' honours those who were lost and the legacy of this tragic event.
Yesterday FYSA Theatre presented the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit - PSBRU with a cheque for £508 from bucket collections at last week's performances of 'The 56' at Bradford Theatres. Today wreaths were laid at the memorial in Centenary Square, Bradford and at Valley Parade football ground in memory of the victims of the tragedy. We continue to hold The 56 in our memories on this 31st anniversary.
