Calling All Southampton Theatre Creatives!

Southampton Forward is launching "Home Theatre" and we need you! We're inviting theatre-makers, directors, stage managers, and filmmakers to help shape this bold new project.

Home Theatre Southampton is a project working with Olivier Award-winning Theatre Director Kerry Kyriacos Michael, renowned for pioneering community-led collaborations.

The project will create bespoke theatre pieces that share stories from our diverse communities, performed in homes across Southampton. These plays will celebrate what it means to be Sotonian from various perspectives.

You will work closely with local residents to co-design and rehearse performances, bringing their stories to life for a select audience and capturing them on film for a documentary to be shown to a broader audience.

Performance Dates:
* Weekend of October 26th and 27th, 2024
* Filmed performances will be screened in early 2025, inviting audiences to engage in an online conversation about our city’s rich cultural tapestry.

SO: Stage Door 2024 is an Arts Council England funded programme that engages local artists and audiences through a range of performances across four strands; Showtime, Rising Stars, Sessions, and Theatricals. An exciting opportunity

In partnership with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, we are seeking a Regional Dance Ambassador to support relationships between MAST Mayflower Studios, Mayflower Theatre and local community groups to bring new audiences into our venues. The activities that make up this project are inspired by Swan Lake and will engage young people in dance, focussing on how connecting, creating, and moving together can improve wellbeing.

The regional dance ambassador will receive training from New Adventures to deliver this work. The aim is to create a bespoke legacy with the dance ambassador, Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios to continue leading and promoting dance in the local area.

The deadline for your application is 12 noon on Friday 19 July.

Congratulations to level 5 Acting and Performance students for an enchanting production of Midsummer Nights Dream.
It was an entertaining, beautiful, and comical evening. The production was set during World War 2. With fallen soldiers and nurses as the fairies and upper-class societal figures representing the lovers.

Musical Theatre students were in the studio today recording vocals for the track 'Revenge Party' from the musical Mean Girls.
This is an exciting project where students re-create a musical scene into a song, using triple threat skills. The musical number will be filmed on location. We can't wait to watch the finished film..

West End Theatre Director Will Holyhead visited Solent University Performing Art students. Delivering a workshop to Musical Theatre third years.

Will is currently Resident Director of Sister Act. Recent directing credits include the UK Premiere of the Australian musical You're a Catch - So Why Are You Single, by Sarah Wynen (2024) and Aladdin for Jordan Productions at New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth (2023).
