Thank you to Ruth Downie for a thoroughly entertaining talk about writing historical fiction, the inspiration behind her stories and the main character Ruso.
Ruth stayed afterwards to talk with fans and sign copies of her books.

On Thursday 14th December, the Southampton Branch of the Classical Association welcomes Dr Will Wootton of King's College, University of London, as its guest speaker at King Edward VI School, Southampton at 7.30 pm. His title is " Making Ancient Mosaics: from Hellenistic to Roman ". All members of the CA and all who are interested in the world of Greece and Rome are very welcome to attend. A small payment is asked from the latter group.

Dr. Harry Sidebottom, Author & Lecturer in Ancient History at Lincoln College, Oxford, will speak at King Edward VI School, Southampton, on 21st November at 7.30pm. His topic will be 'The Third Century Crisis of Rome: The History behind the 'Warrior of Rome' & ' Throne of the Caesars' novels . Further details may be found at www.southamptonca.org . Author Ben Kane gave an insightful and entertaining talk to one of our biggest audiences this year. One member had travelled down from Oxford to hear him, and Ben signed his entire collection of his novels!
