Sophie Gets Networking ✨

This year I joined BAWE Scotland, and it’s genuinely been such a great experience for me both personally and in business.

Running a business means I’m always learning, so I really value having the opportunity to spend time with women who inspire me, challenge my thinking and share their own experiences too.

Last night we had a brilliant dinner at the The Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh and heard from Leigh Mellis, founder and CEO of Jetlogic, who shared the story of her career and building a private jet and helicopter charter business.

It was such an interesting story and definitely one of those evenings that leaves you thinking a little bigger.

Although in this case, perhaps a bit too big...

I’ve now decided I need to charter a private jet one day 😂✈️

There really is 💫

As No Wrong Path Week comes to an end, it got me thinking about how the three of us ended up working in social media, because none of us went to university thinking this is where we’d be!

I went to university in America thinking I was going to become a media broadcaster, before coming home to Scotland and starting my own business at just 21. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs definitely gave me the confidence to give it a go!

Then I met Erin! She was studying at Stirling University and working part-time at New Look when she reached out to me looking for some work experience. Of course, I said yes! That work experience eventually turned into a part-time role after university, and then a full-time position at Sophie Gets Social.

Then came Lisa! She was already following us on Instagram when we posted a job opportunity. She got in touch, applied and, well, the rest is history!

None of us had social media mapped out as our career, but all of our different paths led us here.

So if there’s one thing I’d say, it’s to put yourself out there, reach out to people, create your own opportunities and never stop learning. You really don’t need to have it all figured out!

There’s no wrong path 💗

Our Head of Content, Erin 👑

It's hard to remember a time before Erin joined Sophie Gets Social. She's made such a positive impact on our team and our clients.

I'm on annual leave this week, and Erin is leading our content shoots and keeping everything running smoothly.

She has such a great eye for content, and I'm so proud of how much she's grown. I can't wait to see all the amazing work she creates this week and beyond. 🤳📸
