Hello All,

With learning to row now finished, people that wish to continue rowing on the water need to be purchasing membership from here (https://www.harpersu.com/getinvolved/societies/soc/rowing/?fbclid=IwAR1n6rKkADs9D1hrJaFBYVuRQVb76lwXWtu_2XKNgoZZLgw7Rk6hqP5gWfc)

This is for your membership to Pengwern boat house, insurance, and liability cover. Ideally this needs to be done by Sunday (I know it’s short notice sorry) as Pengwern will begin to think we are taking the p**s and not let us out on the water.

We are a young club and welcome all abilities from experienced rowers to those who have never sat in a boat. Training takes place locally in Shrewsbury and we have regular socials for all to enjoy.

Hello Freshers,
Now learning to row is coming to an end - people need to purchase the relevant rowing membership (fitness membership is just for land training) from the SU website (https://www.harpersu.com/getinvolved/societies/soc/rowing/). This is mandatory for anyone who wishes to row on the water whether you want to row in a more competitive setting later in the year at BUCS and other events we are looking to attend. Please try and get this done as soon as possible and let me know if you any issues.

***URGENT***
Ergs tonight are cancelled. Do not come to the SU. LMS dinner takes priority we thought we could use a side door but apparently freshers can't be trusted not to go into the dinner after the session. Apologies we will open up another slot Friday if it is needed.

Women’s Rowing 2022/23

Much like the men’s, we are now halfway through our “learn to row” scheme! We would like to invite all members who wish to row on the women’s side to join our WhatsApp group below whether you are wanting to be competitive or a fitness member! This group will be where all information on women’s rowing will be after the completion of Learn to Row.

A competitive membership is anyone who would like to row both on ergs and the water. Having this membership does not mean you have to race if you don’t want to!

Fitness membership are for those wanting to only erg this year.

Membership fees will be available soon and we will tell you how and where to purchase!

Date: 22/10/22
Time: 16:15-17:15
Location: Newport swimming pool
Bring £2 for the pool to complete the test.
The swim test itself will be around 10 minutes long. But we will have to spilt people up into groups to do it. Please where clothes you would row in. E.g. shorts and a T-shirt so we can gauge swimming ability if a boat was ever to capsize. This is a mandatory requirement for all members wishing to go out onto the water. If you only want to erg or do socials this isn’t mandatory. Failure to attend will delay you ability to attend water session.

⚠️OUTING WEDNESDAY 12/10/22⚠️

Responding to feedback we have opened up a new outing slot on the spreadsheet. We realise it is less than 24 hours away. If you want to come please fill out the spreadsheet so we can get an idea of number. Also so we’re not waiting around for people if they’re late to show.

If you’re interested in attending, please meet outside the QMH building at 13:20 and we’ll sort out cars and safety before we leave 13:30. We will returned back to campus around 4:30 so anyone in catered halls doesn’t miss food. We’ll put a post out tonight about stuff to bring with you but it’s mostly common sense.

❗️⚠️Can all freshers wanting to go on water read and sign this waver⚠️❗️

We’ve been having trouble getting the swim test sorted due to things out of our control so this waver will basically allow us to take you on the water sooner (erging in only half the fun!).

It’s only a precaution for the club, the likelihood of you guys falling in is very slim, as we put you in beginner boats that are very stable and have literally had people stand up in them with no trouble
