We were delighted to mark the launch of ARU’s Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC) at Cambridge Wireless’ Trustworthy AI: From Principles to Critical Applications event on the 9 June 🎉

Bringing together over 100 participants from academia, industry and government, the event explored how AI can be developed to be secure, accountable and resilient in real-world contexts 🤝

We were proud to introduce the Centre alongside welcome addresses from Prof Laurie Butler (ARU) and Lindsay Bliss (Cambridge Wireless), along with an inspiring contribution from Prof Yonghong Peng on institutional intelligence and scaling AI 💡

A huge thank you to the expert speakers who shaped such valuable discussions, and to the Cambridge Wireless Security SIG team for delivering a stimulating and engaging event 👏 We would also like to extend our thanks to ARU colleagues who supported its success 🙌

It was fantastic to see ACRC colleagues and students showcasing their work through posters and live demos, bringing the Centre’s vision to life through creativity and innovation 🚀

We look forward to building strong collaborations across the community as we advance trustworthy AI together 🌍

Our fantastic Animal and Environmental Biology students from ARU Cambridge recently attended their annual Shropshire field residential, hosted by the Field Studies Council at Preston Montford HQ 🌿

The trip showcased outstanding enthusiasm, curiosity and determination throughout the week.

Activities included a guided walk at Stiperstones National Nature Reserve with Natural England, alongside expert talks from organisations such as the National Trust.

Students also took part in a wide range of fieldwork activities, exploring local habitats and searching for species including otters, polecats, great crested newts, white-clawed crayfish, upland birds and ancient woodland flora 🦦🐦

This residential plays a vital role in developing the practical skills and key Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) competencies needed for careers in ecology and environmental management, bringing learning to life in the field.

ARU’s academic team — Toby Carter, Sarah Hart, Kevin Bright, Prof. Danni Green and Jim Littlemore were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication shown throughout 💚

A huge thank you to the Field Studies Council at Preston Montford for hosting and supporting such a valuable field experience.
