Swati Dance Company performed Basant Bells as part of NrityaArpanam on the 26th July 2026 at the Capstone Theatre, Liverpool.
Basant Bells is inspired by ‘Vasantham’. It is a piece of Ensemble Work in Bharatanatyam using selected verses from Kalidasa’s Ritu Samharam (a Medley of Seasons).
Kalidasa's deep insight into the heart of Nature is deeply infused by an understanding of Human nature. It is almost impossible to see in his poetry where the poet of nature ceases and the poet of human relations begins.

I offer respects to my Gurus this occasion of Guru Purnima. Guru Krishnan Kutty Nair, Smt Ammu Kutty, Acharya C V Chandrashekhar Sir and Jaya Aunty.
They instilled in me a love and dedication for Natyam, taught me with patience and generosity. Thank you for making me the dancer, the dance teacher and the person I am today.

It was an absolute delight to meet Michelle Mann, a fellow dance practitioner and academic at Edge Hill University today.

Throughly enjoyed our walk through the grounds discussing creativity, similarities in dance practices and future artistic endeavours.

Swati Dance Company presents 'NrityaArpanam'

This July, Swati Dance Company will present its annual showcase, NrityaArpanam, an inspiring celebration of Bharatanatyam, one of India’s most popular classical dance forms. The event brings together students, alumni and professional dancers to showcase the depth of training, passion, artistic expression and cultural richness that defines the company’s work.

The evening will feature a two-part program, beginning with a student showcase that highlights emerging talent, followed by a curated double bill titled Basant Bells & Pancham. These productions explore the intricate interplay of rhythm, melody and storytelling, offering audiences a deeply immersive cultural experience.

It is always a pleasure to visit the beautiful grounds of Edgehill university and teach the hardworking students in the most positively charged inspiring studio.
On Monday the 9th of March Swati Dance conducted a Bharatanatyam technique class for the students of EdgeHill University. The workshop included adavus, simple narratives and the importance of clarity of line, poise along with appropriate use of eye movement and glances in both aspects of Bharatanatyam.
