PREVENT: keeping safeguarding knowledge current

PREVENT forms part of our wider approach to safeguarding. It is about recognising when someone may need support, responding appropriately to concerns and working with others to help keep children and families safe.

Early years providers may find it helpful to take some time to reflect on how confidently PREVENT is embedded within everyday safeguarding practice.

✅ Is your safeguarding information and guidance up to date?
✅ Do practitioners understand their PREVENT responsibilities?
✅ Is relevant training current?
✅ Do safeguarding leads know where to find advice and how to make a referral?
✅ Are concerns recorded and shared through your established safeguarding arrangements?

The updated Department for Education guidance reminds us that there is no single profile or indicator of radicalisation. Concerns should be considered using professional judgement, available evidence and the wider context.

What a fantastic start to the term!
All our children are settled in beautifully, alongside our new staff members, and we’ve already achieved so much across the whole setting!

Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been up to so far…

We have also completed our Ofsted inspection– In our third week of term, our amazing team worked incredibly hard, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone’s efforts!

Air conditioning fitted! – All ready for the colder weather ahead and, of course, the warmer summer months! A huge thank you to Round for getting this sorted for us. 🙌

It’s been a busy and exciting start
