Hi Family,
I know many of you are feeling disappointed, discouraged, and perhaps even frustrated about how things have gone with our alumni journey so far.
When we created this group, our vision was simple. We wanted a strong Pentecost University alumni community where we could support one another, network, mentor, celebrate achievements, and create opportunities for each other. We wanted an alumni association that truly served its members.
As many of you know, we started with great enthusiasm. We made plans, shared ideas, and began building something meaningful. Unfortunately, along the way, things stalled. Projects were left unfinished, momentum was lost, and many people understandably became discouraged and disengaged.
I want to take full responsibility for my part in that. As one of the people leading this effort, I know many of you expected more, and for that, I sincerely apologise. There were many challenges happening behind the scenes involving various stakeholders, and while those challenges contributed to the situation, the reality is that the outcome left many of us disappointed.
Recently, a Teams meeting was organised. Some attended, many did not, and honestly, I understand why. In fact, I had previously decided that I would no longer be involved in anything related to the Pentecost University alumni because of the amount of work many of us invested, only to see little progress.
However, I chose to attend that meeting, and I'm glad I did.
What became very clear during the discussion was that many of us share the same concerns, frustrations, and hopes. More importantly, we all agreed on one thing: the future of our alumni cannot depend on one person or a small group of people.
We are the alumni of Pentecost University. We earned that title. This alumni community belongs to all of us. Its success depends on all of us.
During the meeting, there was a strong agreement that it is time to restart this journey with a fresh mindset and a renewed commitment. We want an alumni association that is driven by alumni, supported by alumni, and built for alumni.
I am therefore asking each one of you to join us once again.
Let's put the disappointments of the past behind us and focus on what we can build together. When you look at alumni associations around the world, you see graduates helping one another through career opportunities, business connections, mentorship, social support, and lifelong friendships. There is no reason why Pentecost University alumni cannot achieve the same.
I know some of you may be thinking, "We've heard this before." And that's fair. But I genuinely believe that if we all contribute, even in small ways, we can finally make this work.
Over the next three weeks, we will organise another Teams meeting, and the details will be shared in this group well in advance. It doesn't matter whether you live in Ghana, the UK, the USA, Canada, Europe, or anywhere else in the world. You can be part of this alumni community from wherever you are.
When the time comes, I encourage every one of you to join the meeting, share your ideas, raise your concerns, and tell us how you think we can move forward. Alumni is too big for one person. It is too big for two people. We need everyone's support, everyone's ideas, and everyone's commitment.
So today, I am asking you once again to give this another chance.
Let's come together.
Let's rebuild.
Let's reconnect.
Let's create an alumni association we can all be proud of.
Thank you all for your patience, support, and belief.
Naomi
