The 9th International Plant Phenotyping Symposium (IPPS9) will take place from 12–16 October 2026 in Accra, Ghana, bringing together scientists, researchers, plant breeders, industry leaders and technology innovators from around the world.

Under the theme “Phenotyping for All: Bridging the Gap in Global Agriculture,” the symposium will provide a platform for sharing research, exploring emerging technologies, fostering collaboration and advancing plant phenotyping for sustainable agriculture.

IPPS9 is hosted by the International Plant Phenotyping Network - IPPN and WACCI, and marks the first time the symposium will be held in Africa.

Join us in Accra, from October 12–16, 2026, for the 9th International Plant Phenotyping Symposium (IPPS9).

Hosted jointly by International Plant Phenotyping Network - IPPN and WACCI, IPPS9 will bring together scientists, policymakers and industry leaders, from around the world to explore the latest advances in plant phenotyping and their applications in agriculture.

This edition marks the first time the symposium will be hosted on the African continent, creating new opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation.

WACCI, in collaboration with the Crop Science Centre (CCSC), University of Cambridge, recently organised a two-day workshop on Molecular Biology Techniques for Plant Science Research.

The workshop brought together graduate students, young scientists and laboratory personnel for practical training in techniques including DNA extraction, primer design, PCR and gel electrophoresis, using maize and rice as model crops.
