STRUCTURE OF GA-DANGME STUDENTS’ GROUPING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION-AJUMAKO CAMPUS

On the Ajumako Campus of University of Education, in the Central Region, there is GaDangme Department. Under the Department are units. The Ga and Dangme units come together to form the Ga-Dangme Department. The students’ unions are organized on these lines.

Because we are studying language, it is very important to study some of the courses in your language and not in another language. Sometimes the rules of the language do not cut across. So there are Unit courses different from other unit courses because it has to do with specific individual languages. Then, there are General Courses that we all come together with others from other department to study.

If you get to Akan- Nzema Department too it’s made up of Units: The Fante, Twi, and Nzema Units.

So there is nothing new about this unless one doesn't know what goes on here. Ga Unit holds its programmes here likewise the Dangme Units. In the just ended cultural week held last week, the various foods prepared were done in the Units. The Ga students prepared theirs and the Dangmes prepared theirs too. Even, the Ga joined the Dangmes at their dance session and later on the Dangmes joined the Gas to dance Kpanlogo.

The Gas Wɔɡbɛ jɛkɛ night too some of the Dangmes were part of the drama performed.

So, we are one here. It's only the Language class that we go separately aside that any other class we go with them likewise other departments too.

"Hii yɛ kpatashi" cooking competition currently ongoing at the University Of Education Winneba, Ajumako - Campus.
This cooking competition is organized by the Ga Students'Union (Lɛlɛ'ɛ mli) to mark the Homecoming Celebration.
The chefs are preparing varieties of the Ga indeginous foods such as banku kɛ sh*tɔ kɛ kenan,fufu kɛ eŋmɔmi fɔlɔ, ɡali kɛ aklɔ,duade aɡwao kɛ ka mli fɔlɔ and the like.
The motive behind such an activity is for the men to display their culinary skills and to break the fallacious notion that states that; "the kitchen is a place for females only".
Watch out for the sumptuous, mouth - watering and finger licking meals prepared by the chefs.
