TOPIC: The Spirit Of Faith
OPENING SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 4:13 – Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak.
MAIN TEXT:
2 Timothy 1:7 says “God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” This verse lets us know that fear is a spirit. It goes further to clarify that the spirit God has given to us is not that of fear.
Fear isn’t the only spirit there is. The opening scripture talks about the spirit of faith. So, fear and faith are spirits and the one we yield to is what determines how we live our lives. We are to live by faith and to do this, we must understand the spirit of faith.
Walking by faith doesn’t mean that problems will not challenge us but that we will always see the end of every single problem we confront. A problem can push us towards a corner but no problem has the power to pin us to any corner.
You can be surrounded by troubles and not be troubled. It is the troubles that gets into us that causes us problems NOT the ones that surrounds us. The spirit of fear allows the troubles surrounding us to seep into us but the spirit of faith keeps them from getting in.
In 2 Corinthians 4:8, the Apostle Paul demonstrated the spirit of faith when he said “We are surrounded by trouble on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.” Did you see that?
Though trouble surrounded him on every side, he wasn’t distressed the least bit and he was bombarded with puzzling situations, he didn’t despair. This is the expression of the spirit of faith. What does it take to get you distressed, despair and out of tune with life?
No matter how threatening a news may appear to affect your finances, health, job or business, never yield to distressing situation to take its toll on you. Always allow the spirit of faith to rise up in you knowing that God is working behind the scenes for your favor.
Begin to act in the spirit of faith from now. Fill your heart with God’s Word so that when distressing situations comes you can remain cool, calm and collected overflowing with the confession of God’s word. Refuse to be controlled by the spirit of fear.
CONFESSION:
I have not received the spirit of bo***ge to yield to fear. The Spirit of God bears witness with my spirit that God is my Father. God is working all things out to give me my expected end in Jesus name.
