Young people everywhere carry the same hopes even when their circumstances differ. On International Youth Day, we celebrate their resilience and the role education plays in helping those hopes become a reality.

What does it take for a young person to believe their future is possible? Sometimes, it takes seeing someone who has already walked the path.

This week, alumni from the Mastercard Foundation Alumni Network, Ghana Chapter, are back as mentors in the classrooms they once sat in. Through "Back to Inspire: From Here to There," they are returning to schools they once attended to share their experiences and help young people explore pathways into tertiary education, TVET, entrepreneurship and the world of work.

Conversations are happening across Tamale, Kumasi, Accra and Akropong, reaching close to 900 learners. This initiative is supported by the Ghana Education Service, Ghana TVET Service and T-TEL.

Guidance works best when it comes from someone who understands the journey.
