Poster Presentation for Final-Year Students

On 8th September, final-year students from the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science-KNUST presented their research findings during this year’s annual poster presentation.

The session provided an opportunity for students to share their work, exchange ideas, and demonstrate how meteorological and climate research can contribute to addressing real-world challenges facing society.
This year’s research explored a range of important issues, including severe weather, public health, and climate change.

Together, these projects demonstrate that meteorology and climate science extend far beyond weather forecasting. They provide knowledge that can inform decisions in public health, disaster risk reduction, agriculture, environmental management, and climate adaptation.

Each poster represents more than a final-year academic requirement, but it is rather a step toward understanding complex challenges and developing evidence that can contribute to a more resilient and sustainable society.

We celebrate the students for their dedication, creativity, curiosity, and commitment to using science to create impact.

As they move into the next phase of their academic and professional journeys, we look forward to seeing how they continue to turn research into solutions and knowledge into impact.

Postgraduate Research Update Presentation

On the 28th January, 2026, the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science-KNUST successfully held its first Postgraduate Research Update Presentation.

The session provided a vibrant platform for postgraduate students to share progress on their research, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful scientific discussions on key weather and climate challenges affecting Ghana and West Africa.

Research presentations spanned diverse and timely themes, including:

• Soil moisture dynamics and vegetation stress across Ghana
• Future projections of major West African climate systems using CMIP6 models
• Sub-seasonal precipitation forecasting using hybrid deep learning approaches
• Aerosol–convection interactions over West Africa
• Agricultural drought assessment using SERDI

The department commends all presenters for their insightful contributions and thanks faculty members, students, and participants for their engagement.

Join us next week 😇

Final Day

Today marks the final day of the African School on Air Quality and Pollution Prevention 2025, and looking back at how far we’ve come is truly inspiring.

What began as a Ghana-focused initiative has steadily grown into a West African program and has now blossomed into a Pan-African platform bringing together passionate learners, researchers, and practitioners from across the continent. From 2023 to 2025, the evolution has been remarkable more countries represented, more voices included, and more collaborations formed.

This journey reflects not just the expansion of a program, but the rise of a community committed to advancing air quality, climate action, and environmental stewardship in Africa.

Today we celebrate the progress made, the knowledge shared, and the collective vision that continues to guide us toward a cleaner and healthier future for all.
