FOHAS, EU-Ghana Pact for Skills and the Directorate of Career Development and Industrial Liaison Equip Final-Year Students with Career Mock Interviews
The Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences (FOHAS) of the Takoradi Technical University (TTU), in collaboration with the EU-Ghana Pact for Skills: Support Tertiary Education for Sustainable Employability project and the University's Directorate of Career Development and Industrial Liaison, has organized a comprehensive career mock interview session for final-year students to enhance their employability and prepare them for the competitive job market.
The initiative formed part of the faculty’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic training and industry expectations by exposing students to real-life recruitment processes and providing them with constructive professional feedback.
The programme commenced with a plenary session hosted by the Dean of FOHAS, Prof. Victor Fannam Nunfam, who welcomed participants and underscored the importance of career readiness in today's dynamic healthcare sector.
The career clinic on mock interview sessions exercise brought together seasoned professionals from academia, healthcare, and industry who volunteered their expertise to assess and mentor the students. The interview panel comprised Dr. Philomena Aboagye, Head of Career Development Office ; Dr. Kofi Obeng-Mensah, Western Regional Manager of the Pharmacy Council; Eng. Alfred Oscar Ampah, Plant Manager of Plot Enterprise; Mr. Sylvester Chinbuah, Head of the Public Health Reference Laboratory at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital; Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Mensah, Technical Lead for the Serology and Molecular Unit at the Sekondi Public Health Laboratory; Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Naa Momo Lokko, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences; Dr. (Mrs.) Aba Atta-Eyison, Head of the Department of Industrial Laboratory Sciences; and Dr. Ransford Oduro Kumi, representing the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Madam Cynthia Ama Mensah
Throughout the exercise, students underwent structured interviews that mirrored actual employment selection processes. The interviewers evaluated the candidate’s soft skills in communication, technical knowledge, confidence, problem-solving abilities, professional ethics, and overall interview etiquette, while offering individualized feedback to help them improve their performance before entering the job market.
The programme reflects the faculty’s ongoing commitment to producing industry-ready graduates equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to thrive in an increasingly competitive labour market.
Students expressed appreciation to the Faculty, the EU-Ghana Pact for Skills initiative, and the Directorate of Career Development and Industrial Liaison for providing them with a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand interview experience and receive expert guidance from accomplished professionals.
