The Culture Promotion Committee of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, set up in 1999, has presented a great number and variety of arts and cultural programmes every year since then with the aim of broadening both students’ and staff members’ artistic and cultural horizons. This enrichment of campus life and encouragement of cultural awareness allows us to achieve a further aim: that of contributing to the overall well-being and all-round development of PolyU students. Since the establishment of the Culture Promotion Committee, over a hundred programmes have been held on campus each year. These have encompassed music, dance, theatre, visual arts, films and video, literary arts, talk series, carnivals, exhibitions, artist-in-residence programmes, PolyU Arts Festivals and many others.

成立於一九九九年的香港理工大學文化推廣委員會，一向以擴闊學生及員工的文化視野為目標。藉著每年舉辦百多項不同類型的文化藝術交流活動，理大學生的人文素養得以提升，而發展更趨多元化。

自文化推廣委員會成立以來，每年在校園舉行的文化活動達百餘項，如：音樂、舞蹈、戲劇、視覺藝術、電影、文學、講座系列、嘉年華會、展覽、駐校藝術家計劃、理大藝術節等，種類繁多。

香港理工大學 x 中英劇團：舞台技術講座 —— 音樂劇《邊城》舞台技術解密 PolyU x Chung Ying Theatre Company: Stagecraft Talk: Behind the Scenes of the Musical "Border Town"

講座簡介：
講座將以深入淺出的方式，介紹如何透過舞台設計營造演出氛圍，以及處理舞台製作中不易察覺的技術挑戰。講者亦會分享如何運用特別設計的舞台裝置塑造江河般的場景效果，並透過流動式佈景與場景轉換，完成精準的場面調度，提升整體演出的流暢度及藝術感染力。
此外，講座將闡述離港集訓式綵排（包括演員及幕後團隊）的重要性，從藝術執行及安全管理兩方面，說明如何透過模擬演出環境，讓演員及技術人員熟習流程、協調配合，確保演出順利。
透過是次學習活動，同學將有機會深入了解劇場背後的專業技術細節、加深對舞台製作的認識，並提升對表演藝術的興趣與欣賞能力。

【Roots and Migrations: Concert by Duo Baraldi】
由意大利駐香港文化處主辦、香港理工大學協辦的「Roots and Migrations: Concert by Duo Baraldi」，已於2026年10月19日在理大賽馬會綜藝館圓滿舉行！

擁有華裔背景的意大利音樂家兄弟 Demian 及 Dylan Baraldi，以成長於不同文化、語言與國家之間的親身經歷為起點，透過音樂探索身分認同、文化邊界，以及對「家」的追尋。當晚的演出匯聚中西樂曲，從《阿里山的姑娘》、《梁祝》，到 Giovanni Sollima 的《Heimat Terra》及 Teodorico Pedrini 的奏鳴曲，讓不同文化與時代的聲音在舞台上交匯，呼應尋根與遷徙的主題。

感謝 Baraldi 兄弟為理大社群帶來一場真摯動人的音樂之旅！他們透過旋律與自身的成長故事，讓師生在欣賞音樂之餘，認識不同文化背景下的生命經驗，感受音樂連結彼此的力量。這場演出不僅促成了中西音樂的相遇，也為校園開拓了文化交流的空間，加深大家對中西文化的理解，在多元共融的理大社群中，一同探索歸屬的意義。

Organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong and co-organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), “Roots and Migrations: Concert by Duo Baraldi” was successfully held on 19 October 2026 at the Jockey Club Auditorium, PolyU!

Italian brothers and musicians of Chinese heritage, Demian and Dylan Baraldi drew on their personal experiences of growing up across cultures, languages, and countries to explore identity, cultural boundaries, and the search for “home” through music. The evening’s programme brought together Chinese and Western works, from “The Girl from Alishan” and “The Butterfly Lovers” to Giovanni Sollima’s “Heimat Terra” and a sonata by Teodorico Pedrini. Voices from different cultures and eras met on stage, echoing the concert’s themes of roots and migration.

Thank you to the Baraldi brothers for bringing such an inspiring musical journey to the PolyU community! Through their melodies and personal stories, the duo invited students and staff to discover life experiences shaped by different cultural backgrounds and to appreciate the power of music to connect us. More than just an encounter between East and West, the concert opened up a vibrant space for cultural exchange on campus, deepening mutual understanding and exploring the true meaning of belonging within our diverse and inclusive university community.

The performance of "Colorful Breeze" 一 China's Ethnic Art Colleges Tour Gala: "Greetings from Tianshan" was a remarkable event organised by H.K. United Art Entertainment Limited and co-organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Held on 13 October 2026 at the Jockey Club Auditorium, PolyU, the event attracted over 500 attendees who enjoyed a captivating gala of song and dance. The performance brings together dance and music elite performers from the Xinjiang Arts University. Through dance, vocal music and instrumental music, it showcases the brilliant artistic heritage of Xinjiang’s diverse ethnic groups, allowing audiences to experience the vibrant vitality of the Xinjiang culture.

由香港聯藝機構有限公司主辦、香港理工大學（理大）合辦的「多彩的風」─ 藍色的蒙古高原文藝晚會，已於2026年10月13日在香港理工大學賽馬會綜藝館圓滿舉行。是次演出吸引了逾500名觀眾一同欣賞這場精彩的歌舞盛會。演出匯聚新疆藝術學院舞蹈學院與音樂學院菁英陣容，以舞蹈、聲樂、器樂三大門類，呈現新疆多民族藝術的璀璨風采，讓觀眾感受新疆大地的蓬勃生機。

【「年度中國歷史人物選舉2026」啟動禮暨學術講座】

由國史教育中心（香港）主辦及香港理工大學合辦的「年度中國歷史人物選舉2026」啟動禮暨學術講座於2026年10月6日在香港理工大學蔣震劇院圓滿舉行！是次活動反應熱烈，吸引超過200名觀眾到場參與。本年度的「年度中國歷史人物選舉」以「雄韜偉略，功在千秋」為主題，推舉五位著名歷史人物：秦始皇（秦朝）、漢武帝（漢朝）、唐太宗（唐朝）、明太祖（明朝）、康熙帝（清朝）成為候選歷史人物。透過張偉國教授的演講，讓理大師生、校友及在場人士加深對五位歷史人物的認識，及其生平行誼，培養對國家的認同感、自豪感及歸屬感。

The distinguished event and talk organised by The Centre of National History Education (Hong Kong) and co-organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was successfully held on 6 October 2026 at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU! It drew over 200 participants, including PolyU students, staff and alumni, and the members of the wider community. Five renowned historical figures have been nominated as candidates for this year’s Annual Chinese Historical Figures Election: Qin Shi Huang (Qin Dynasty), Emperor Wu of Han (Han Dynasty), Emperor Taizong of Tang (Tang Dynasty), Hongwu Emperor (Ming Dynasty), and the Kangxi Emperor (Qing Dynasty). The talk conducted by Prof. Cheung Wai-kwok introduced the five historical figures and their lives and deeds. The audience gained a deeper understanding of the five historical figures and their lives and achievements, thereby fostering a stronger sense of national identity, pride, and belonging.

由中國對外文化交流協會主辦、香港演藝博覽及香港理工大學聯合承辦的《2026拉美藝術季 - 香港站》，於2026年10月8日在理大蔣震劇院圓滿落幕！🎉

這次活動由來自哥倫比亞博亞卡省（Boyacá）的「四分之三故鄉樂團」（3/4 de Mi Tierra）傾情演出，為觀眾帶來了一場充滿南美風情與活力的音樂文化之旅。🌍 這支遠道而來、成立已十年的樂團屢獲全國大獎。他們在現場以班多拉琴、雷昆托吉他及蒂普勒琴等當地特色樂器，完美演繹了帕西約舞曲、班布科舞曲等多種安第斯典型節奏，完美展現了南美傳統音樂的獨特魅力！
伴隨著熱情洋溢的南美節奏，樂團更邀請了現場觀眾上台一同共舞 💃🕺。大家在歡樂的舞步與悠揚的樂韻中，打破了語言與地域的界限，真正體現了音樂促進文化交融的魅力。✨

[2026 Latin American and Caribbean Arts Season, Hong Kong: "3/4 de Mi Tierra"]

Organized by the China International Culture Association and co-organized by the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the "2026 Latin American and Caribbean Arts Season, Hong Kong" successfully concluded on October 8, 2026, at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU! 🎉
Featuring a spectacular performance by the band "3/4 de Mi Tierra" from Boyacá, Colombia, the event took the audience on a vibrant and culturally rich musical journey full of South American flair. 🌍 With a decade of history and multiple national awards under their belt, this remarkable band traveled all the way to Hong Kong to perform. Using traditional local instruments like the bandola, requinto, and tiple, they flawlessly delivered typical Andean rhythms such as the pasillo and bambuco, perfectly showcasing the unique charm of traditional South American music!
Amidst the passionate South American beats, the band delightfully invited audience members onto the stage to dance together 💃🕺. Through joyous dancing and beautiful melodies, linguistic and geographical barriers were broken, truly reflecting the wonderful power of music in bridging cultures. ✨

【Forum and Launch Conference of the 1st Greater Bay Area International Theatre Festival】

Presented by Bauhinia Culture Group Ltd., organized by China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd., and co-organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the "Forum and Launch Conference of the 1st Greater Bay Area International Theatre Festival" was successfully held on 8 October, 2026, at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU!
The event combined insightful discussions with captivating performances. After the opening remarks by officiating guest, leading figures from the cultural and performing arts sectors gathered for an in-depth panel discussion, exchanging ideas on the future development and cross-disciplinary innovation within the GBA's arts industry. 🗣️
In addition to the inspiring dialogues, the event featured an exclusive appreciation session of the Hong Kong Ballet's original masterpiece, Dunhuang: Tracing the Light, exploring its beautiful fusion of Eastern philosophy and Western ballet aesthetics. The audience was also treated to a stunning live dance excerpt from the historical dance drama Kucha, bringing the rich history of multi-ethnic cultural integration along the ancient Silk Road to life! ✨

Organised by the Culture Promotion Committee of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), this concert marks an important milestone of the PolyU Orchestra: with the official establishment of four chamber ensembles—the String Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble. These ensembles have been established to nurture our dedicated members’ musical development and provide further opportunities for them to perform and grow together. Through a carefully selected programme, the concert will showcase our members’ talent, commitment and musical achievements, while celebrating this new chapter in the Orchestra’s development. We would be honoured to welcome you to share this special occasion with us.

【藝術家講座：陳世英——《他界之器》】

香港理工大學（理大）於2026年9月28日假賽馬會綜藝館舉辦「陳世英：他界之器」藝術家講座，榮幸邀請著名藝術家陳世英分享其跨越逾半世紀的創作歷程。活動吸引近700人報名，理大師生及公眾人士共聚一堂，展開一場關於藝術、生命與創造的交流。

陳世英由寶石雕刻、「世英切割」的發明，以至大型鈦金屬雕塑創作，娓娓道來其藝術探索與人生體悟。他以「度」、「器」與「破」三個概念，啟發觀眾思考創作如何連結物質與精神、突破既有界限，並開啟更多未被想像的可能。講座由理大主辦，並獲香港江蘇婦女聯合總會、滬港青年會及龍美術館支持。活動進一步體現理大致力推動藝術文化交流、豐富校園文化生活，並透過多元藝術活動連繫大學社群與公眾。

【“Vessels of Other Worlds”: A Talk by Wallace Chan】

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was delighted to present the Vessels of Other Worlds Artist Talk by renowned artist Wallace Chan at the Jockey Club Auditorium on 28 September 2026. The event drew nearly 700 registrations, bringing together members of the PolyU community and the public for an inspiring evening of art and reflection.

Drawing on more than five decades of artistic practice—from gemstone carving and the invention of the Wallace Cut to monumental titanium sculptures—Chan shared his creative journey and artistic philosophy. Through his reflections on transcendence, the vessel and breaking through, he encouraged the audience to explore how creativity can connect matter and spirit, challenge boundaries, and open new possibilities. Organised by PolyU, with the support of the Federation of HK Jiangsu Women Organisations, the Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Association and the Long Museum, the talk furthered PolyU’s commitment to fostering meaningful cultural exchange and enriching the University’s arts and cultural landscape.

【萬人同慶中秋・傳承文化盛事 | Record Numbers Gather for Three-Night Campus Celebration! 🌕🐇】
一連三晚的「理大中華文化節 — 中秋晚會」圓滿結束！是次活動吸引逾 17,000 名師生、教職員、校友及親友踴躍登記參與。「亮燈之夜」、「文化之夜」到壓軸的「綵燈會」輪番登場，校園在燈影與歡笑聲中化身溫馨熱鬧的團圓勝地。
現場節目相當豐富，舞台上有同學呈獻的中國舞、古箏獨奏及合唱表演，台下亦備有多款節慶美食與大家分享。中華文化工作坊同樣大受歡迎，不少參加者嘗試製作非遺漆扇、香囊及宋錦花紋磁貼，親身體驗傳統手藝的樂趣。現場特設中秋主題燈飾和拍照區供大家「打卡」。活動期間，理大校董會主席林大輝博士、校長滕錦光教授率領大學管理層走訪校園各處，與齊聚一堂的理大師生及校友互動，同賀佳節。
作為第三屆理大中華文化節的重點活動之一，是次晚會讓大家在沉浸式的節慶體驗中感受中華文化魅力。感謝每一位理大人的熱情參與，為這個中秋留下滿滿回憶！

The three-night "PolyU Chinese Culture Festival — Mid-Autumn Festival Gala" has come to a successful conclusion, attracting more than 17,000 registrations from students, staff and alumni to celebrate the joyous festival together. Featuring "Lantern Lighting Night", "Cultural Experience Night", and the weekend "Moonlit Lantern Night", the celebrations lit up our campus with warm lights and festive energy.
Throughout the event, there was a wonderful buzz across campus. On stage, students delivered captivating Chinese dance routines, guzheng solos, and choral performances, while attendees enjoyed a delicious spread of festive treats. The cultural workshops proved hugely popular, giving participants hands-on experience with traditional crafts — from Intangible Cultural Heritage lacquer fans and scented sachets to Song brocade magnets. Specially designed light installations and photo spots drew steady crowds throughout the evenings. PolyU Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai and President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng also led senior management on a tour across campus, warmly engaging with students, staff, and alumni to share in the festive cheer.
As a cornerstone event of the 3rd PolyU Chinese Culture Festival, the gala offered everyone an immersive journey into the rich heritage of Chinese culture. Thank you to the entire PolyU community for your enthusiasm and support, leaving us with wonderful memories to cherish this Mid-Autumn!

【Forum and Launch Conference of the 1st Greater Bay Area International Theatre Festival】
The forum will introduce the overall blueprint and key highlights of the inaugural Greater Bay Area International Theatre Festival, followed by a thematic panel discussion featuring leading cultural and performing arts professionals. The event will also feature a guided presentation on Hong Kong Ballet’s original production Dunhuang: Tracing the Light (《敦煌・溯光行》), as well as a live excerpt from the dance drama “Kucha” (《龜茲》).
