Ecology & Biodiversity Society, SS, HKU Founded in 2005, our missions are to promote the study of ecology and biodiversity and to raise students' concern on ecological and environmental issues.

Ecology & Biodiversity Society, SS, HKU (formerly known as Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU) was founded in 2005. It is an academic society serving students studying Ecology & Biodiversity in the University of Hong Kong. Our aims are to promote the study of ecology and biodiversity within HKU and to raise students’ concern with social issues in this area. We also focus a lot on promoting environmental conservation as well as the high biodiversity of Hong Kong to the general public. The Society is the member of the Save Lung Mei Alliance and the Save Our Country Parks Alliance. This page is created in 2012 by Enreacher Session 2011-2012. The name of the society changed from Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU to Ecology & Biodiversity Society, SS, HKUSU in November 2017. 新學年正式開始喇🎉！相信大家喺假期期間都過得好充實，亦一定好掛住 E&B 嘅一班朋友🥹💚無論你係想認識 E&B 嘅其他成員🤝，定係想同一班 O Camp 嘅朋友再玩下，都歡迎一齊參加我哋嘅開 Sem 聚會✨！

當日大家可以一齊玩生態主題桌遊🎲🌿、同朋友交流近況💬，亦可以同教授一齊食飯🍽️👨‍🏫，認識更多 E&B 嘅成員。最重要嘅係，大家仲有機會拎到開 Sem 利是🧧，祝大家新學年個個都可以過3 爆 4📚💯！

On the day, you can enjoy ecology-themed board games🎲🌿, catch up with friends💬, and have dinner with professors🍽️👨‍🏫 while getting to know more E&B members. Most importantly, you will also have a chance to receive a Semester Kick-off red packet🧧! We wish everyone a successful new academic year and a 3.0 or above GPA📚💯!

真係冇諗過，三日兩夜嘅 Orientation Camp 咁快就完咗喇🐾🌿！好多謝各位組爸媽、OC 同 helpers 落力幫手，更加要多謝每一位 parti🥳 願意嚟同我哋一齊玩🎮、一齊盡興🤪，令今次 Orientation Camp 變得咁精彩難忘🎉！

喺呢段三日兩夜嘅旅程入面，我哋由「香港大學遊蹤 x 城市遊蹤」出發🏫🗺️，帶大家走訪 HKU 校園同附近特色地點，認識港大學生嘅日常角落；去到 campsite 後，再透過「營地遊蹤」🧭、「適者生存」🔥、campfire🎤💃🏻等活動，令原本陌生嘅大家慢慢變成朋友🤜🏻🤛🏻！大家亦參觀咗 HKBM，並喺導師嘅帶領下進行夜行🌙🔦，探索夜晚嘅生態環境，認識各種有趣生物🐛🦎🕷️🦋，一齊感受大自然嘅奇妙。

希望大家今次唔單止玩得開心，仲可以學到新嘢📚，並且識到一班志同道合嘅新朋友！之後記得約埋一齊參加 EBS 搞嘅活動呀📣🎉！期待下次再同大家見面👋🏻！

Our three-day, two-night Orientation Camp went by so quickly🐾🌿! A big thank you to all the Jobamas, OCs, and helpers for your hard work. Most importantly, thank you to all the participants🥳 for joining and making this camp such a memorable experience🎉!

During these three days, we started with the ”HKU Campus x City hunt“🏫🗺️. We explored the university campus and nearby locations, and got to know the places that are part of students’ daily life. At the campsite, activities like the ”Campsite hunt“🧭, ”Natural Selection“🔥, and Campfire🎤💃🏻 helped freshmen meet friends through fun challenges, teamwork, and laughs🤜🏻🤛🏻! Participants also visited HKBM and went on a guided night walk🌙🔦, discovering interesting wildlife🐛🦎🕷️🦋 and the natural beauty of the nocturnal environment together.

We hope everyone had a great time, learned something new📚, and made friends with similar interests! Don‘t forget to join future activities organized by EBS📣🎉! We look forward to seeing everyone again soon👋🏻!

今日嘅 EBS × BSS Orientation Day，正式為咁多位 freshmen 揭開咗大學生活嘅序幕🎉！ 希望大家今日玩得開心之餘，都認識到新朋友、更加了解 HKU，同時對未來嘅大學生活有更多期待同得着💚。

今日我哋一齊玩咗 HKU Hunt 🔍，帶住大家走訪香港大學唔同嘅角落，認識校園背後嘅故事，並完成各個 checkpoint 嘅任務！之後嘅 Mass Game 🎯，大家都非常投入，希望你哋享受當中嘅挑戰同合作。

我哋亦準備咗 academic session 📚，等大家可以同師兄師姐傾吓選科、唔同 major 嘅內容，同埋大學生活嘅各種疑問；無論你有冇打算讀 EB／BS／MBB，都希望今日嘅分享可以幫到你哋✨！

真心多謝每一位 freshmen 嘅投入、每一位幫手同埋各位組爸組媽嘅付出🥹💚、同埋 香港大學理學會生物科學學會 嘅共同合作！期待喺之後嘅活動，同大家創造更多難忘回憶🌿🏕️！

Today’s EBS × BSS Orientation Day has marked the beginning of university life for all our freshmen🎉! We hope you had lots of fun, made new friends, got to know HKU better, and gained more excitement and insight for the journey ahead💚.

We took part in the HKU Hunt🔍, exploring different corners of HKU, learning about the stories behind our campus, and completing tasks at various checkpoints together! Everyone was also very engaged in the Mass Game🎯.We hope you enjoyed overcoming challenges and the teamwork along the way.

We also prepared an academic session📚, where freshmen could chat with senior students about course selection, different majors, and any questions about university life. Whether or not you are planning to study EB, BS, or MBB, we hope the sharing session was helpful to you✨!

A heartfelt thank you to every freshman for your enthusiasm, all the helpers and jobama for your efforts 🥹💚, and 香港大學理學會生物科學學會 for your collaboration! We look forward to creating even more unforgettable memories with you at our upcoming events🌿🏕️!

During these 3 days and 2 nights⛺🔥, we will take you on an exciting “survival of the fittest” challenge🐅⚡; at the same time, you will have the chance to step into nature and join a night walk led by our demonstrators🌄🌙🔦. You will explore rich ecological environments🐾🌱, discover all kinds of fascinating organisms🐢🦜, and experience the wonders of nature after dark🍃.

At night, we will also have a campfire gathering🔥🎶, where everyone can dance, play games and enjoy a fun-filled evening together💃🕺!

上個禮拜，我哋同一班中學生一齊展開咗一段由遊戲到夜行嘅生態旅程🎲🌿🔦。

日間嘅桌遊環節參加者透過一系列嘅小遊戲，理解咗由觀察特徵開始，逐步建立物種辨認嘅思維🧠🔍。OWLHK「森林的法則」桌遊就令參加者明白喺不同生境嘅物種點樣互相競爭同生存🌳🦋🐾。呢啲遊戲成功咁將生態嘅概念為中學生形象化。

去到夜晚，大家拎起電筒走入龍虎山，將日間學到嘅知識套用喺眼前嘅自然環境之中🔦🌌。途中我哋見到大綠蛙（𝘖𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘦𝘴）🐸、中國水龍（𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘴）🦎，亦觀察到黑暗中閃動嘅螢火蟲✨。

多謝各位導師嘅細心帶領同分享🙌，亦多謝每一位參加者帶住好奇心投入其中💚。希望呢次經歷可以成為一個起點，畀大家喺日常生活中繼續留意、發現同欣賞香港嘅自然與生物多樣性🌏🌱。

Last week, we embarked on an ecological journey with a group of secondary school students, from playing games during the day to exploring at night🎲🌿🔦.

During the daytime board game session, participants learned how to identify species by observing key traits 🧠🔍 through a series of interactive mini-games. In addition, OWLHK’s boardgame, “Law of the Forest”, taught them how organisms compete to survive in different ecosystems🌳🦋🐾. These games were able to visualize ecological concepts to the secondary school students.

At night, we brought these ideas into the field at Lung Fu Shan. With torches in hand, participants applied what they learned in a real natural setting🔦🌌. Along the trail, we encountered Green cascade frogs (𝘖𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘦𝘴)🐸, Chinese water dragons (𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘴)🦎, and even spotted fireflies glowing in the dark✨.

A big thank you to our demonstrators for their thoughtful guidance and sharing🙌, and to all participants for their curiosity and enthusiasm💚. We hope this experience serves as a starting point for everyone to continue discovering and appreciating Hong Kong’s rich biodiversity in their daily lives🌏🌱.
