Our 2026 Writer‑in‑Residence Gabriela Babnik Ouattara shares a moving reflection on the IWW Literary Festival’s Opening Panel (23 March) in an editorial column for Jantarna Lastovka, a Slovene Literary Journal. 📖

From finding refuge in books at the start of their journeys to growing into the voices that now shape contemporary literature, Gabriela traces how Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor and Rob Doyle let reading and writing become their quiet sanctuaries, and how language, in turn, taught them tenderness and softness.
