We welcomed media yesterday for an exclusive tour of ’s immersive installation, 𝙚𝙈𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮—𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, which is now open and currently on exhibit at Tai Kwun until 2 August.

Powered by HKBU’s nVis 360-degree 3D Immersive Interactive Cinema, the installation combines performance, human-computer interaction, and advanced computer graphics, letting audiences become choreographers as they interact with eight virtual dancers, images, and sound across eight scenes.

Our media guests were amazed by the fusion of advanced motion capture and real-time interaction, breaking down barriers between performer, spectator, and space. Professor Jeffrey Shaw, visionary behind the project, highlighted how 𝙚𝙈𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 and its artistic technology redefine the future of entertainment.

[沉浸式互動的藝術體驗: 「𝗲𝗠𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆—流光起舞」]
浸大與大館由即日起至8月2日，呈獻由浸大製作的沉浸式互動裝置「eMBody—流光起舞」。浸大昨日特意邀請傳媒朋友前來親身體驗。

由浸大研發的「nVis 360 度沉浸式互動立體影院」，融合表演藝術、人機互動和先進電腦圖像技術，讓觀眾化身編舞者，在不同場景中與八名虛擬舞者、影像和聲音互動。邵志飛教授表示「eMBody—流光起舞」及其先進技術，重新定義未來娛樂。

這項沉浸式互動裝置現已免費開放，歡迎公眾親身體驗虛擬藝術新境界。

In early July, the delegation took part in the “Zhejiang discovery for Hong Kong and Macau Youth” programme, embarking on an insightful journey across Zhejiang — creating a unique platform to connect academia and industry and promote cross-regional innovation and collaboration.

HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alexi Wai and the team of start-ups, HKBU Knowledge Transfer Office and HKBU Institute for Innovation and Translation visited some of the leading tech enterprises and participated in industry-academia matching sessions. They were impressed by the province’s tangible hard-tech strength and the seamless synergy between R&D, manufacturing, and commercialisation.

HKBU’s entrepreneurs also showcased project roadshows and live demonstrations in life sciences, Chinese medicine, AI, and art tech to the regional stakeholders, demonstrating our interdisciplinary research strengths and commitment to translating academic excellence into real life impact.

Many thanks to our Zhejiang hosts for their hospitality. This exchange not only deepened our understanding of Zhejiang’s dynamic innovation ecosystem but also opened up new avenues for cross-border collaboration.

Digital technology is revolutionising cultural industries, opening new frontiers for creative expression and cross-regional collaboration. Mr Raymond Chan, Assistant Director (Entrepreneurship) at HKBU Institute for Innovation and Translation visited Peking University recently to discuss these developments with Prof. Xiang Yong, Dean of Peking University's Institute for Cultural Industries.

The meeting spotlighted strategic collaboration in the application of AI in the digital cultural industry, construction of the Chinese Aesthetic Gene Bank and joint exploration in art technology and related fields.

Both parties reached a strong consensus to establish a regular cooperation mechanism to drive joint research, knowledge exchange, and translational projects.

This partnership combines HKBU’s strengths in art-tech innovation with Peking University’s expertise in cultural industries, creating powerful synergies for digital culture and creative technology.

Representing and Food Safety Consortium ( ), Prof. Terence Lau, HKBU’s Interim Chief Innovation Officer and Chairman of FSC and Ms Nelly Lam, Assistant Director (Strategic Alliance and Promotion) of HKBU Institute for Innovation and Translation and Director of FSC, attended with a shared mission: to address food safety challenges through innovations, applied technologies, and collaborations with stakeholders across the globe.

HKBU and Food Safety Consortium ( ) participated in the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 organised by UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization under the theme “Digitalisation, Innovation and Circularity in Food Safety” during 11-12 June in Bangkok. The forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation, identify needs and technology transfer opportunities in addressing emerging food safety challenges.

Prof. Terence Lau, HKBU’s Interim Chief Innovation Officer and Chairman of FSC, moderated the discussion titled “𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 — 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮.” By sharing best practices, the panel aimed to advance regulatory convergence for recycled food contact materials.

How can innovation help tackle pollution, climate change, and resource scarcity? Prof. Matthew Lui, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemistry at was recently featured on HOY TV’s programme “Inno Action” to share his team’s pioneering research on utilising specific insects to turn waste into valuable resources.

By using insects like black soldier flies and mealworms, Prof. Lui’s team optimises the biodegradation process and enables the transformation of food and even plastic waste into high-value materials such as protein and chitin—far beyond traditional composting.

Prof. Chris Wong, Associate Dean of Science (Transdisciplinary Development), also highlights HKBU’s establishment of the International GreenTech Alliance which connects local and international bodies to advance green technologies research.

Co-produced by Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Ballet and Studio Wayne McGregor, London, and co-commissioned La Biennale di Venezia, Danza, Somerset House and Tai Kwun, the media and VIP preview of 𝙒𝙖𝙮𝙣𝙚 𝙈𝙘𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙧: 𝙊𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 was successfully held on 24 June. Our special guests and journalists had the opportunity to experience this immersive installation. The 57-minute virtual performance dissolves boundaries between audience, dancer and digital space. Our guests were deeply impressed, praising its visionary artistry and innovative use of technology.

榮獲國際殊榮的「𝗪𝗮𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗰𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿：異・地」於今夏登陸大館 Tai Kwun作亞洲首映！

作品由香港浸會大學、香港芭蕾舞團及Studio Wayne McGregor, London 共同製作，是全球首個後電影舞蹈裝置，讓舞蹈流變、蛻化、重生，顛覆傳統表演定義。

57分鐘的節目打破第四面牆，邀請觀眾走進舞蹈的核心，在浸大視覺藝術院講座教授兼視覺化研究中心總監邵志飛教授與計算機科學系訪問教授莎拉．肯德丁教授開發的沉浸式全景360度立體12K LED（2600萬像素）nVis裝置內，與Company Wayne McGregor及香港芭蕾舞團舞者相連。

The award-winning 𝙒𝙖𝙮𝙣𝙚 𝙈𝙘𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙧: 𝙊𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 comes home for its Asia premiere at 大館 Tai Kwun this summer!

Co-produced by Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Ballet, and Studio Wayne McGregor, London, the world’s first post-cinematic choreographic installation refracts, evolves and reimagines dance performance in a startlingly original new form of experience.

The 57-minute programme breaks the fourth wall as inviting visitors into the heart of the dance, connecting in close contact with the hyperreal dancers of Company Wayne McGregor and Hong Kong Ballet, within Prof. Jeffrey Shaw, Chair Professor of the Academy of Visual Arts and Director of the Visualization Research Centre at HKBU, and Prof. Sarah Kenderdine, Visiting Professor of the Department of Computer Sciences at HKBU’s radically immersive, panoramic, 360-degree stereoscopic, 12K LED, 26-million-pixel nVis screen.

Fresh from its acclaimed showings in Venice and London, this boundary-pushing experience is not to be missed.
