Imagine a clinic visit where doctors spend less time on paperwork and more time truly listening. AI-powered clinics promise exactly that: automating documentation and streamlining workflows so doctors can focus fully on their patients.

Behind this transformation are computer science professionals who design and build the AI architecture that powers the automated workflow and intelligent decision support. Their expertise in systems, data, and algorithms is essential to realizing such a sophisticated platform. In fact, this is already a reality.

Developed by Prof. CHEN Hao’s team with medical experts, the SmartCare platform is now used in real clinics, benefiting both professionals and patients. His team has also created SmartPath, an AI system that transforms the cancer pathology workflow—from precise tumor identification and rapid report generation to seamless integration into clinical practice.

When we talk about AI, what’s really driving smart homes, wearables, and autonomous systems? Most people think of programming and data analysis. But all those smart devices only come to life because of sophisticated hardware working together with software. High-performance chips, sensors, circuits, and microcontrollers are the engines powering AI.

That’s why Computer Engineering—which combines the best of both software and hardware worlds—and Electronic Engineering and Microelectronics & IC are such exciting university majors. They train you to design the brains inside AI and robotic devices, build the chips that handle massive amounts of data, and create the infrastructure that allows smart systems to work in real time.
