On October 5, the Faculty of Education welcomed 20 school leaders from 11 local and international schools for our inaugural ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ: ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ, convened by the Academic Unit of Social Contexts and Policies of Education (SCAPE) with the Academy for Leadership in Teacher Education (ALiTE).
The morning took the form of a working conversation rather than a series of presentations. School leaders and faculty members from SCAPE, ALiTE, and the Academic Unit of Mathematics, Science, and Technology explored four themes together:
โข Values education and student wellbeing
โข Family learning and engagement
โข Leadership development and school improvement
โข STEM, digital transformation and AI in education
Leadership development ran through the discussions, especially preparing and supporting middle leaders, mentoring and coaching grounded in real school challenges, and diverse career pathways for teachers. Participants also explored shared school values, educator and student wellbeing, and what AI means for education. At each table, participants shared priorities, challenges, innovative practices, and opportunities for collaboration between schools and the University.
Reflecting on the event, Co-Chairs ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐น ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐น and ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ธ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ highlighted the value of honest dialogue which creates the foundation for meaningful collaboration. They also described the event as an important starting point for developing the ideas and partnerships that emerged into concrete, shared work.
