UCC Peer Support Our Peer Support Leaders are here to help all first year UCC students Peer support leaders can be contcated reguarly throughout the year or on a once off basis.

UCC Peer Support is a service that seeks to help incoming first years make the transition to UCC. It's there for all students though, so any UCC student is welcome to use this site or make contact with a peer supporter. At orientation first years meet with peer supporters and they keep in contact for the academic year. Peer Support Leaders are current students who are trained in providing practical and emotional support to students. They are there to listen and to offer advice on their take of college life! Nothing is too small to ask or talk about. If we can't help you, we'll refer you to someone who can!

📣 Ask Me/Fiafraigh Díom Button Badges Are Here!

Have you ever been asked for directions on campus, where to find a service or how to access support?

The new Ask Me Button Badges are designed to help make UCC an even more welcoming and approachable place for everyone. By wearing a badge, you are signaling that you’re happy to help answer questions, point people in the right direction or connect them with the appropriate support or service.

Alongside the badges, there are 22 language and allyship flag stickers available to help identify the languages you speak and/or allyships you hold. These visual indicators can make it easier for students, staff and visitors to identify someone they feel comfortable approaching.

Through the form you can:

· Choose to collect your badge from a collection point or have it delivered to your office.

· Request additional badge stickers for your laptop, office door or workspace.

· Select any language or allyship flag stickers you would like to display alongside your badge.

Together, we can make it easier for people to find information, support and a friendly face across campus.

The Welcome Zone is your space to relax, connect and make the most of your first day at UCC. Drop by after orientation to chat with Peer Support Leaders, get answers to any questions you still have, meet other students and enjoy fun games and activities.

Whether you’re looking for information, new connections or just somewhere to hang out before the Students’ Union event, you’ll find a warm welcome in the Welcome Zone.

Based in the Creative Zone, Boole Library from 3:30PM during each day of orientations.

This may have happened to those starting a postgrad, returning from Erasmus, or who simply missed our past emails.

We’re very proud of our Peer Support Leaders Kira Le Duff and Cian O’Reilly who recently represented UCC and Ireland at the IASAS Student Leader Global Summit 2026 in Hong Kong. Themed around Student Leadership for Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Communities, it brought together student leaders from all over the world to network, share their own experiences and brainstorm new ideas together. All of us in UCC Peer Support would like to wish a huge congratulations to Eithne Egan as the inaugural awardee of UCC Peer Support’s Outstanding Contribution to Student Success award!

Eithne was nominated and presented the award by PSL Cian O’Reilly. This award recognises the substantial impact that individual staff members or peers can have on student life in UCC, with nominations made by the Peer Support Leader volunteers. Eithne received the award in recognition of all of her invaluable commitment and efforts as coordinator of UCC’s Concert Band, on top of her role as School Manager for UCC’s School of Film, Music and Theatre.

We look forward to continuing this award going into the months and years to come, celebrating those who support and strengthen student life on campus every single day.
