Global-MINDS European Master in Psychology Global-MINDS: Erasmus Mundus Master Psychology of Global Mobility, Inclusion and Diversity in Society

Global-MINDS is a comprehensive 2- year programme applying insights from Social and Cultural Psychology to contemporary societal issues. Students receive a thorough education in theory, research and methods, and training in intercultural skills. Universities from 5 countries jointly deliver the Global-MINDS programme in English:

• ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute, Lisbon, Portugal
• University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway
• University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Warsaw, Poland
• Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey
• University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland

The Global-MINDS Master is open to students with a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree in psychology and excellent English skills. Global-MINDS has received funding from the EU to award some scholarships to students, covering tuition, travel and living expenses. Some scholarships are earmarked for students from specific countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, South Africa, Syria, and Tunisia. Meet Anna Ejibadze, Giorgia Bellei, Giulia, Gaby and Emily Dagtekin—members of the Global-MINDS 2026–2028 cohort.

Coming from Georgia, Italy, Germany and Guatemala, they bring experiences and interests spanning migration, social inclusion, decolonising psychology, human rights, mental health, community building and feminist policymaking.

🌍 What do students study in Global-MINDS?

Global-MINDS is a two-year, 120-ECTS international master’s programme combining social and cultural psychology, research training and practical experience.

For the 2027–2029 intake, students can choose between two mobility paths:

🟣 Path A — Culture & Diversity
ISCTE in Lisbon → University of Limerick

🔵 Path C — Inclusion & Health
SWPS University in Warsaw → University of Limerick

Students explore topics including culture, migration, diversity, inclusion, health, intergroup relations, research methods and culturally sensitive interventions.

During the second year, students put their learning into practice through:

🔹 A 300-hour internship
🔹 An independent master’s thesis

New internship placements for our Global-MINDS community! 🌍

Ana Cecilia Montoya Contreras has joined Mental Health and Human Rights Info (MHHRI) as an intern this semester. Her interests connect climate change, development, human rights and health.

Nathália Lobo is beginning a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) internship with IOM – UN Migration in Baghdad, Iraq.

We wish Ana and Nathália every success in these meaningful new chapters, and look forward to following their experiences.

📢 Important announcement for prospective Global-MINDS applicants

Applications for the 2027–2029 Global-MINDS intake are scheduled to open on 26 October 2026 and close on 27 February 2027.

Please note that this will be a self-funded intake. No Erasmus Mundus scholarships will be offered for this cohort, although applicants may explore independent external funding opportunities.

From 2027, two mobility paths will be available:

🔵 Path A: Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon → University of Limerick
🟣 Path C: SWPS University → University of Limerick

The carousel also provides an overview of programme participation costs. Living and travel expenses are not included.

Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to review the programme structure, eligibility requirements, costs and funding information before applying.

Meet the Global-MINDS team at Iscte for 2026/27! 🇵🇹

During the coming academic year, João Manuel de Oliveira will coordinate Global-MINDS at Iscte while Christin-Melanie Vauclair is on sabbatical.

Alongside João, Ricardo Rodrigues, Rita Guerra, Carla Moleiro, David L. Rodrigues and Helena Carvalho bring expertise across social and cultural psychology, diversity and inclusion, mental health, relationships and research methods.

Together, they will support the Global-MINDS students continuing their academic journey in Lisbon.
