בחמישי האחרון קיימנו יחד עם מודל האו״ם של האוניברסיטה ובשיתוף שגרירות הפיליפינים, ערב שהוקדש לתרבות הפיליפינים, במעמד שגרירת הרפובליקה של הפיליפינים בישראל, איילין ס. מנדיולה.
כמו כן, התכבדנו לארח את מיכל ויילר-טל, מנהלת מחלקת דרום מזרח אסיה במשרד החוץ, ואת רון דורון, סגן נשיא לשכת המסחר ישראל-אסיה.
במהלך הערב שמענו על התרבות הפיליפינית ממגוון דוברים, נהנינו ממוזיקת רוק פיליפינית בביצוע האווי דאנאו, משיחה עם אוהד הנווד, וטעמנו מאכלים מקומיים כמו עוף ברביקיו, גלידה פיליפינית ועוד המון מאכלים טעימים.
תודה רבה לשגרירות הפיליפינים על שיתוף הפעולה, ולתלמידי החוג ללימודי מזרח אסיה תומר ברקאי ושון גכט, שהפיקו יחד עם מודל האו״ם את הערב המלמד, הטעים והמהנה הזה🇵🇭.
Last Thursday, together with university’s Model UN and in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy, we held an evening dedicated to Filipino culture. The event was honored by the presence of Her Excellency Aileen S. Mendiola, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Israel. We were also privileged to host Michal Weiler-Tal, Director of the Southeast Asia Department at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ron Doron, Vice President of the Israel–Asia Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout the evening, we learned about Filipino culture from a variety of speakers, enjoyed Filipino rock music performed by Howie Danao, took part in a conversation with Ohad Hanavad, and tasted local dishes such as BBQ chicken, Filipino ice cream, and many other delicious cuisine.
Many thanks to the Philippine Embassy for its collaboration, and to East Asian Studies students Tomer Barkay and Shawn Gecht, who, together with Model UN, organized and produced this educational, delicious, and enjoyable evening. 🇵🇭✨
