SIP Department of Biosciences
A warm welcome to the new comers!!The first year students of UG and PG were given a cordial welcome by the faculties of the Department. The Bioscience club members, core committee members and the Class representatives left no stone unturned to make the newly admitted students feel safe and homely. Different club activities like sports club, science club, literary and arts club were introduced. Several activities were organised by the club members which acted as " ice breaking session". A lab tour was also organised by the student members to prime them with different labs and expertise of the faculties. A small glimpse of SIP.

A New Milestone in Industry- Academia Collaboration!

The Department of Biosciences, JIS University is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gene Prospera Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Serampore, West Bengal, a pioneering biotechnology startup recognized for its innovations in molecular biology, biotechnology product development, and skill-based training.

This collaboration marks an important step towards strengthening industry-academia partnerships and creating new opportunities for our students and researchers. Through this MoU, both organizations aim to promote:

Collaborative research and innovation in biotechnology and life sciences
Student internships, industrial training, and skill development programmes
Hands-on workshops, expert lectures, and laboratory training,
Entrepreneurship, startup exposure, and technology transfer initiatives
Knowledge sharing and academic–industrial collaboration

Students presented their research before faculty members and experts, demonstrating their dedication, hard work, and passion for scientific inquiry. The presentations covered diverse areas of biosciences, reflecting the department's commitment to fostering research excellence and academic growth.

We congratulate all the students for their outstanding efforts and commend the faculty mentors for their continuous guidance and support throughout the research journey.

Dr. Sanjaya Kumar Mallick led a flow cytometry workshop that attracted advanced-level graduate, postgraduate, research scholars, and faculty members. The workshop's primary goal was to integrate theoretical foundations with practical applications, enabling participants to understand hardware components and result analysis for a deeper comprehension of flow cytometry. Dr. Mallick's enlightening presentation, coupled with his thorough responses to students' queries and hands-on demonstration using the flow cytometry machine, made the session highly impactful. The department aspires to host more 'theory-to-practical' sessions for cutting-edge instruments in the near future.
