On the occasion of ‘Diamond Jubilee Year’ of Marathwada Mukti Sangram, the Research and Development Cell, Centre for Public Policy and Centre of Public Law, Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad, has organized the Colloquium on Marathwada Mukti Sangram’ on 16th September, 2023. Marathwada Mukti Sangram Din is celebrated on 17th September to commemorate this victory and the sacrifices made, marking a significant transformation in the region’s history. The Indian Independence movement aimed to end British Rule (British Raj) from 1857 to 1947. Led by figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, it resulted in India’s independence in 1947. However, more than 500 Princely States still had to decide their fate. A revolt led by Swami Ramanand Tirtha and others countered the Razakars. Despite negotiations, the Nizam of Hyderabad did not join India, leading to ‘Operation Polo’ in September 1948, integrating Hyderabad into India.
