Awantipora, December 18:
The Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, organized a one-day International Seminar to mark World Arabic Language Day, in line with UNESCO’s 2025 theme, “Innovative Pathways for Arabic: Policies and Practices for a More Inclusive Linguistic Future.”
The seminar featured Prof. Abdul Haq Bilabad (University of Qatar) as the Keynote Speaker and Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean Academic Affairs, IUST, as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Abdul Majid Andrabi and Dr. Afroz Ahmad Bisati, In-Charge Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Faculty members, research scholars, and students actively participated and presented research papers highlighting various dimensions of the Arabic language.
Dr. Abdul Waheed Sheikh, Head of the Department, emphasized the global relevance of Arabic as a language of knowledge, culture, and intercultural dialogue. Prof. Bilabad delivered an insightful keynote address on innovative policies and pedagogical practices for the sustainable future of Arabic, which was later elucidated in English by Dr. Inayat Rasool.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Irfani Rahim. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Mohammad Yousef Mir

The Department of Arabic language and literature, IUST held its Board of Studies (BOS) meeting today at the Humanities Block. The session was graced by Dean, School of Humanities, Dr. Afroz Bisati, along with experts Prof. Shad Hussain Andrabi and Prof. Mohammad Saleem.
The meeting featured fruitful discussions on curriculum revision and academic enhancement. The session concluded with insightful remarks from Head of Department, Dr. Abdul Waheed Shiekh.
Dr. Inayet Rasool, Dr. Irshad Ahmed Mir, and other faculty members also attended and contributed valuable inputs.

Awantipora, Oct 14: The Department of Arabic, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, organized a one-day outreach programme for students of The Institute of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies for Girls, Kupwara, as part of the University's Outreach Program to familiarize students with higher education opportunities in Arabic studies and to strengthen academic linkages between IUST and institutions in north Kashmir.

The visiting students were briefed on academic opportunities through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), distance education, and the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme
(FYUGP) at IUST. Dr. Irshad Ahmad Mir, Coordinator Community Connect, highlighted the research-oriented components of FYUGP, while Dr. Waheed, Head of the Department, spoke
about academic prospects and facilities. The students also visited other academic and scientific infrastructure at the varsity. The Institute is managed by a department alumnus.
