The Law School also offers through its Distance Education Department a Master’s Degree programme in Business Laws, and Post-Graduate Diploma programmes in Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Medical Law and Ethics, Intellectual Property Law and Child Rights Law. The institution has been ranked as the top law institute in the country for several years.

Our Story

The National Law School of India University came into existence through a Notification under the National Law School of India University Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). NLSIU offers undergraduates a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. At the postgraduate level, NLSIU offers both coursework and research degrees. The LL.M. is a one-year coursework degree. M.A. in Public Policy is a recently introduced two-year degree. The M.Phil., LL.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees, all aim at producing leading research scholars in all forms of legal academic pursuit, from legal history to jurisprudence. The Law School also offers through its Distance Education Department a Master’s Degree programme in Business Laws, and Post-Graduate Diploma programmes in Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Medical Law and Ethics, Intellectual Property Law and Child Rights Law. NLSIU has been ranked as the top law institute in the country for several years, and has been named the best law school in the NIRF University Rankings for three years in a row!
