At the Institute of Hotel and Catering Management (Ekathuthangal), part of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Vadapalani, learning is not just taught - it’s experienced!

Today, our students are taking part in a hands-on Workshop on Towel Origami conducted by Mr. Pratap Majhi, Team Leader – Room Division, Park Hyatt Chennai.

From elegant swans to intricate designs, every fold tells a story of creativity, precision, and passion for hospitality.

This workshop would be a perfect example of how classroom learning comes alive through real-world experiences.

Flavours of Chinese Cuisine Come Alive in Our Food Production Kitchen

The third-year BSc Hotel and Catering Management students of the Institute of Hotel and Catering Management, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Technology, Vadapalani (Ekathuthangal campus), showcased their culinary talents during a Food Production practical session under the guidance of Chef Gautam Manu, Assistant Professor.

The session featured a delightful Chinese menu including Manchow Soup, Chow Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, Stir-Fried Cauliflower, Spring Roll, Fried Dough Twist (Mahua), Fried Rice, and Crispy Fried Chicken.

Food Production plays a vital role in shaping future hospitality professionals by enhancing their skills in cooking, menu planning, and kitchen management while deepening their understanding of global cuisines. Such hands-on sessions inspire students to blend creativity with technique and build a strong foundation for success in the Culinary and Hospitality industry.
