Elated to share that Sanatan Mandal, a student of the department of English, UGB, (batch of 2015--2017) has joined the prestigious IIT Dhanbad as Assistant Professor on 26 September 2024.

This is the first time in the history of the University that a student of our University has joined any IIT as a faculty member.

Sanatan had been hardworking and sincere from his student days. He specializes in the literature of North East India.

Sanatan has made us, the department of English, UGB, extremely proud. We wish him a bright career of teaching and research ahead.

There we go, just finishing up with another round. Batch of 2022-24, currently in their Semester IV, is all set to step out into the wider world. Their juniors, PG Semester II students organized a wonderful farewell party for them on 27 June 2024.

It was a wonderful and colourful day.

Best wishes from the entire department to these sparkling kids of Semester IV for their forthcoming end sem exams, and for all other kinds of exams of the journey called life...

Inauguration of Confluence, Volume IV, Issue I 2024, the wall magazine of the department.
Prof. Pabitra Chattopadhyay, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, UGB has kindly consented to inaugurate this issue. Prof. Jyosna Saha, Dean of Arts and Commerce, UGB, shall also grace the occasion.

Special thanks to Sri Sabuj Sarkar for editing the issue, all our students from both semesters for their contributions, and the current batch of Sem IV students for the design.
